Kilkenny Library Service has a fun filled and busy Christmas schedule planned with a range of activities for adults, children and families including music, story time, crafts and a Christmas Reading Challenge.
All our branches will run Christmas story times for children throughout the month of December. These events have proved very popular and are provided for a variety of age groups from toddlers’ right up to 10 year olds.
Creativity and imagination will be in full force at the Christmas craft sessions for children where children will have the opportunity to make and create and bring home, wonderful pieces of Christmas art and craft.
“We will also be holding Christmas Coffee Mornings in some branches to thank our customers for their support throughout the year “comments County Librarian, Josephine Coyne. “Our Christmas programme is an opportunity to celebrate the season with the community and be part of the exciting Yulefest Festival” she adds.
Loughboy Library will have a music filled venue where the ever popular Voices of Hope Choir will perform Christmas music.
Finally the Christmas Reading Challenge where we invite individuals, families(adults and children) and organisations to participate and get involved in The 12 books of Christmas.
This 12 book challenge is also a great way of getting families and indeed organisations to read for fun together and a great way to pass those long dark December nights.
All you have to do is read any type of book – fiction, non-fiction, poetry, from December 1st to December 31st, complete the Christmas Reading Log which you can get from your local library branch and you will be entered in a draw at your local branch for book vouchers and an overall draw for a Samsung Galaxy Tablet in January 2017.
Booking is advised for some events.
All details of events will be available on the library website www.kilkennylibrary.ie, in your local branch and on Facebook and Twitter.
