Abbey had a great start! – Laura Hallisey scored a great goal after 5 minutes. Abbey held on to this lead for fifteen minutes but Lismore got in for a goal after 20 minutes when a ball into the top corner was unstoppable.

The half Time score was ACC 1 Blackwater 1.

The second half was a close affair with the better chances going to Lismore. A poor kick out was seized upon by the Lismore girls and the ball was buried in the back of the net. Abbey tried to get more attack minded by putting Kate Hurley into the forwards (Lismore had a marker on Kate all through the game) – this worked well but unfortunately the chances didn’t materialise. Blackwater scored their third goal two minutes from the end which put an unfair reflection on the scoreboard as the match was very evenly balanced.

Abbey had excellent players in Zoe Power, Kate Hurley, Hannah Pugh and Laura Halissey. Every player gave their best and the future is bright for ladies soccer in the school.
