FUN CAMP-Beat the Irish Summer and come along to our Fun Camps at Chapel Avenue, Ballyragget, where we have a large range of indoor activities to ensure your kids have fun regardless of the weather. These activities include- Photography, Music and Dance, Computers (including Wii fit), Piñata for fun and prizes, Cookery and lots of Arts and Crafts. Our Outdoor Activities include a trip to a Fire Station (get to ride in a Fire Engine), Pirates and Princesses Scavenger Hunt, Water Sports, Outdoor Play Activities including Teddy Bear’s Picnic and a Barbecue on final day. PLAYGROUP-As there are now no vacancies left for our morning Playgroup, names are being taken for the Afternoon session which operates from 12.30 to 3.30 p.m. Monday to Friday. This is open to preschool and pre-preschool children aged from 2years 6 months to 5 years. We deliver the same high standard Playgroup and Montessori programme as

the morning session. Free places available under the Early Childhood Care and Education Scheme and part subsidised places available under the Community Childhood Subvention Scheme. BE A GLEEK FOR A WEEK-Backstage Academy of Performing Arts is bringing a team of showbiz teachers to Ballyragget this July for a Glee Summer Camp for 7-13 year olds. The camp will run from 16th-20th July from 10am-1pm each day at the CYMS Hall. Students will have workshops in Drama, Singing and Dance each day using the songs from the GLEE TV series culminating in a presentation on the final day for parents and friends. Backstage, Ireland’s largest part-time Performing Arts school for young people has recently opened one of its Academies at Abbeyleix Manor Hotel. The company specialises in working with young people and the staff is a unique combination of teacher and professional working in Performing Arts. The fee for the full week of 15 hours is €45 but places are very limited and they will be filled on a first come, first served basis. GREEN WASTE-Dunmore Recycling Centre is now accepting green waste at €2 a bag or €70 per tonne. You can dispose of grass cuttings, hedge clippings etc. at the centre. Please avail of this facility and help keep our environment clean.

FUN DAY ON THE GREEN-A great day was had by all last Sunday at the FUN DAY ON THE GREEN. There were lots of fantastic games and activities for everyone and included bakery stalls, barbeque area, face painting, nail painting, live music, books, clothes and garden equipment stalls, Tug of War, Ice cream van, hurling competitions, bouncy castles, pet show and much more. The committee would like to thank all those that took part in the organization of the day and also to the huge crowd who attended on the day which made it so special. Here’s to many more to come!

TEAM NEWS-St Patricks GAA Club had a very active week again as many of the clubs players were in action for the county, Geoffrey Brennan, James Gannon and Michael Brennan were in action for the Kilkenny Under 2 1’s with Kevin Kelly captaining the team to victory over Wexford on Wednesday night. On Thursday night Ballyragget Intermediate team met Tullaroan in the Alyward cup in Ballyragget it was a tough fought game ending on a score line of Tullaroan 3-16 Ballyragget 2-18. On Friday night the Junior B side played O’Loughlins in a semi final replay of the JJ Kavanagh & Sons Northern Junior B League the game ended on a score line of O’Loughlins 1-19 St Patricks 2-9. On Saturday Niall Dowling was involved in the Under 14 county development squad and Eoin Bergin lined out for the county minors in Portlaoise against Dublin. Both Richie McEvoy and Patrick Gannon have been called to the Under 15 development squad on the 4th of July. With so many players in action for the county it is a sure sign of the great contribution that our Bord Na nOg makes to the club. Special congratulations to the Bord Na nOg committee and volunteers for another well run and successful Phelan Stone Tournament.

The Intermediate Team will be in action again this Thursday night in Ballyragget again Erins Own in the Alyward Cup at 7.30pm.

SCRAP SATURDAY-Summer cleaning your home or farm? Do you want to get rid of your unwanted scrap metal, farm machinery, batteries and electrical goods for free and help St. Patricks GAA Club raise much needed funds for the club at the same time? St. Patrick’s Ballyragget GAA Club are organising a scrap metal collection. Some examples of items we are looking for include saucepans, steel kettles, toasters, golf irons, dishwashers, radiators, steel fireplaces, steel garden furniture, bicycles, steel window frames, steel oil tanks, washing machines, filing cabinets, coal buckets, cars, steel gutters, aerials, steel wheelbarrows, tyre rims (without the rubber), lawn mowers. Items we “CAN NOT” take include, TV’s, plastic, timber, fridges, gas cylinders. A collection service will be arranged on the day. Details of how you can contribute and a special collection day will follow shortly. HORTICULTURE -Kilkenny Leader Partnership (KLP)in partnership with Co. Kilkenny VEC’s Back to Education Initiative (BTEI) are currently accepting applications from all early school leavers interested in participating on a Horticulture FETAC Level 4 accredited programme in Castlecomer. It is expected that the course will run over a 1 - 2 day period from September 2012-June 2013. FREE places are available on this part-time programme to applicants with Junior Certificate standard of education. N.B.: Priority for places will be given to early school leavers in receipt of Job Seekers Allowance and/or Job Seekers Benefit. DEEN CELTIC ACADEMY 2012-The highly successful Deen Celtic AFC Academy 2012 commences on Monday July 9th to Friday 13th July. It is now in its third year. Final Registration takes place at Deen Celtic Clubhouse on Saturday 9th June from 3 to 4pm. Registration forms already completed can be returned to Schoolboy Managers or any member of Deen Celtic Committee .The Cost of the Academy is €60. A Kit is supplied with camp includes following club wear, a Windbreaker, Tee-Shirt, Socks & Gym Bag. This camp is not for members only. It is run to introduce children to the basics skills of soccer. Should an individual wish to sign for the club thereafter, the player has some of the Kit required for Deen Celtic included to help reduce costs to families in the difficult times.
