Golden Jubilee-Congratulations and best wishes to Martin and Kathleeen Farrell, Glencoum who celebrated 50 years of married life together recently. The Couple celebrated with family and friends in the Dusike Inn, Graiguenamanagh on Sunday 26th August where they received a blessing from the same priest that married them 50 years ago, something you dont see everyday. Best wishes to you both and best wishes for your future years together. The couple are pictured below.
Back to School-Best of Luck to all teachers and students who returned to St Fiachras national school last week.
Sponsored Cycle-Well done to everyone who took park in the sponsored cycle to raise funs for the juvenile section of Blacks and Whites gaa club last Sunday 2nd September. Participants started out from Tom Walsh Park at 12.00pm and returned back again for refreshents after a seven mile treck. Everyone young and old enjoyed the occasion on what was a smashing day weather wise for the event. A donation of 10 euro per adult was collected with children taking part with a completed sponsorship card. A fun day was enjoyed by all while also raising monet for a good cause.
Emma Emmigrates -Best wishes to Emma Carroll who this week emigrates to Birmingham in the UK to persue a post grad in primary school teaching. Emma graduated for the programme from NUI Maynooth and will now take her place on the two year course in Birmingham. Best of luck Emma.
Camogie-Well done to the Blacks and Whites Junior camogie team who overcame a tricky relagation battle last weekend to beat Mooncoin by 6 points. The girls now move forward to the championship quarter final against glenmore. Emma Carroll gave a great display for the Team in what will be her last in a Blacks and Whites jersey for a while no doubt. Sinead Kelly also put in a great display. Drive for Liam-Congratulations to Gerry Murphy, Aine Doran, Anita Brennan and Emma Carroll who won the blacks and Whites section of the drive for liam quiz in Tom Walsh Park. The team were tied at the end of the night with a respectable score of 34 from 40, the county winners getting 39 from 40. However they kept their nerve to win the tie break by one. Well Done
All Ireland Intermediate-Comiserations to the Blacks and Whites contingent involved in the Kilkenny Intermediate squad that were defeated by Tipperary last Saturday evening. The team was managed by former player Pat O Grady while Paul Murphy lined out at midfield. Niall Kennedy and Peter Chap Cleere were also panel members on the night.Tony Forristal
Congratulations- to Patrick Nolan who was a member of the victorious Kilkenny U-14 team that claimed the tony forristal tournament last Sunday after beating waterford in the final on a scoreline of 1-12 to 1-05. Terry Dreelan who plays with St Fiachras was also on the panel. Well done lads.
Junior B-Comiserations to the Blacks and Whites Junior B team who lost out to Barrow Rangers in the Northern Championship final last Sunday week. After a difficult first half the lads went into the break seven points behind. A second half rally saw Blacks and Whites get back into contention with two goals, a Pat Hayden penalty and a scrambled effort from Jos Murphy. Howerer the half time gap proved too big to bridge and Paulstown ran out convincing winners on a scoreline of 2-12 to 2-07.
