EMPOWERING PARENTS - DESSA are hosting an Empowering Parents training course for parents of disabled children who would like to meet with a group in a similar situation and learn to be a more effective voice for their child.
This Empowering Parents programme seeks to support parents who which to acquire the knowledge and skills to effectively advocate on behalf of their child and will run over a 6 week period. TIME OUT FOR WOMEN - This is a social and educational project for Women that provides training on a wide range of informational and practical topics. Some of the subjects that will be covered include: Calligraphy, Woodwork for Beginners, Financial Advice Workshop (MABS), Christmas Flower arranging, Stress Management (relaxation), Job Search workshop (VEC), Dietician Workshop (Health Promotion Unit), Pilates, Fitness for women and Computers.

CHRISTMAS MARKET - St. Lazerian’s House, Bagenalstown is holding its annual Christmas Market on Sunday, 18 November from 2pm to 5.30pm. Children can see Santa and adults will be served with tea/coffee, scones with cream and jam and mince pies. There will be lots of stalls and home-made Christmas Cakes and puddings and excellent raffle prizes.

DIY LEVEL 4 - County Kilkenny Leader Partnership are funding a Homecare and Maintenance Programme: Level 4 for people wanting to improve on doing DIY jobs in their own home. On completion of this programme participants will be able to understand and demonstrate basic plumbing, electrical works, tiling, painting, and decorating skills which will empower people to carry out tasks in their own home or create an opening for them to carry out further training.
This course will be run over 5 Tuesdays beginning in early October. The cost is €20 per applicant and places are limited. For an application form contact DFRC on 056 7755519 ext. 1.

RELAY FOR LIFE - Relay for life is coming to Kilkenny. This is a very special 24 hour journey where hundreds of people gather together for an overnight community celebration of a unique, empowering and fun event.
At the heart of Relay is the opportunity to celebrate Cancer Survivors and remember those who have departed this world because of it. People who have been touched in any and every way by cancer are invited to join in the celebration.
Relay for Life in Kilkenny will be held on Saturday 20 July and Sunday 21 July, 2013 at Scanlon Park, Kilkenny.
The Relay for Life group are recruiting teams of volunteers who will walk around the track in relay, for 24 hours, because cancer never sleeps!! Otherwise team members are free to socialise, have fun and enjoy the fun packed day and entertainment.
