Baptism- Congratulations to Patrick and Emma Darcy , Dublin Road on the birth of their son Jack Max Darcy who was baptised last week in St. Kieran’s Church.

Johnstown Play School-the play school re opened on Monday Sept 3rd. Hours are from 9am to12.30

Self help Africa- Self help Africa has been granted a Garda Permit to hold a Church gate collection on the weekend Sept 15th/16th. Your support would be greatly appreciated as these funds will be used to help African people to help themselves and be self sufficient.

500 Club draw-The 3rd draw for the 500 club will be held in St Kierans Hall on Friday Sept 7th. Tickets on sale in Sharkeys and Morrisseys or any of the committee. Tickets €7.50 per month. 1st prize €600, 2nd €250 , 3rd, 4th, 5th€100, 6th€75. Be in to win!

Death-Many people in Johnstown will be saddened to learn of the recent death of Mr Pat McGarry late of St Kieran’s Place. Pat died unexpectedly in hospital last Saturday in Stevenage, England. Son of the late Jimmy and Marie McGarry Pat emigrated with the whole McGarry family in the 60s and settled in Stevenage where they had very successfully lived. They always kept up with their roots and were very much involved with the GAA in Luton and Seamus, Pat’s brother was a strong supporter of the Irish Association in his area and often attended St Patricks Day functions in the Irish Embassy in London. Pat’s death has come as a great cause of sadness to his wife and children, his brothers Seamus, Sean and Billy , his sisters Margaret and Marina, cousins the Murphy Family, Tullyvolty and the McGarry Family , Fennor and all the extended relations. Burial will take place in England. May he rest in peace.
