Féile Peil na nÓg- Dicksboro’s Féile team can consider themselves very unlucky to exit the Féile Peil na nÓg at the group stage last weekend after winning two and drawing one of their three games. The ‘Boro boys eventually lost out on score difference. The finals were held this year in Laois/Offaly and the ‘Boro boys were hosted by Moate. See Sports Section for full report.
Féile Success-Congratulations to the Kilkenny City girls who won out the Division 3 Féile Peil na nÓg after beating The Downs of Westmeath in the final. The panel contained Tara Clifford, Aobha O’Gorman and Ciara Phelan. Very well done girls.
Rescheduled Golf Classic- The Dicksboro Golf Classic, postponed because of inclement weather last weekend, will now go ahead on Friday 3rd August with some tee times available on the Thursday evening. Old Mobile Phones-If you have any old mobile phones lying around the house, why not put them to good use by giving them to Dicksboro GAA Club. If we collect 250 phones we will be supplied with a FREE defibrillator. Please ask friends/relatives/neighbours for old phones and bring as many as you can to our Lá na gClub day in Palmerstown on 1st July. Thank you.
County Teams- Dicksboro GAA Club continues to be honoured with the selection of a number of its players onto County hurling teams. Kilkenny’s recent successful win over Wexford in the under 21 championship featured four ‘Boro men on the panel, Ollie Walsh, Martin Gaffney, David Glynn and Danny Kenny. The Kilkenny minors unfortunately went out of the Leinster Championship last weekend but this team also contained three ‘Boro men, Darragh Holohan, Robbie Fitzpatrick and Kevin Kenny, whilst last but certainly not least Cillian Buckley featured in the Kilkenny Senior team that beat Dublin in the Leinster Championship and was also on the Under 21 panel.
Junior B-This year’s Junior ‘B’ Championship is being held on a league basis and the teams drawn in our group are St. Lachtains, O’Loughlin Gaels, Danesfort and Cloneen. Our first round game against St. Lachtains last Sunday in Freshford saw both teams sharing the spoils with a scoreline of 2-10 each.
Lotto Results- Dicksboro Lotto draw held on Thursday 21st June 2012 was not won. The numbers drawn were 4, 15, 22 and 26. New Curate- Welcome to our new Curate Fr. Kieran O’Shea and we are so happy to receive him. We are sure that he will put his many talents to work for the glory of God and the good of our community. Musical Concert-A musical concert will be held in St. Canice’s Parish Church on Wednesday 27th June, at 7.30p.m featuring the New Jersey Youth Chorus, U.S.A. and St. Canice’s N.S String Quartet and Choir. Adm. €5.

Aware Depression Support Group- Aware’s Kilkenny support group for individuals experiencing depression, meets every Thursday at 7.30pm, in the Father McGrath Family Resource Centre, St. Joseph’s Road.
