Tickets cost €10, and you won’t get better value on a night out with a glass of mulled wine, tea or coffee and mince pies to enjoy. It’s even better when you know that all profits go to the Carlow/Kilkenny Homecare Team. This year, Adrienne Thompson will be the demonstrator and all the arrangements will be raffled at the end of the night, there will also be a hamper as a door prize. CAMOGIE NEWS - The under 21 Camogie team of Paulstown/Goresbridge lost out to Rower-Inistioge in the County semi-final.

SPLIT THE POT RESULTS - Bernie Mahon, Barrowmount Drive won €123, Niall Doheny c/o The Chemist won €20 and Ben McLoughlin, Barrow Meadows won €20.

Last week, our Fás and Tus teams removed all the weeds from the bridge at Barracore, and it looks so much better, so a big thank you to the men for taking on that job. SOCCER - Bridge United u 16’s played Clonmel Celtic in the National Cup. The Bridge lads were in superb form and won 12-0 with Chris Alyward scoring five of these.

Incredibly this young man has hit the net 26 times in eight games for the u 15’s and u 16’s. Bridge u 16 team are now in the last 32 in Ireland, being one of four teams from Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford and Waterford to qualify.

The under 14 team were short a few players due to injury when they played Freebooters in Kilkenny and lost 4-0.

The under 12’s played Evergreen City in Goresbridge and came away with a 3-3 draw having been two goals down.

The under 10’s and under 8’s both played Fort Rangers and all players involved enjoyed two highly enjoyable hard fought games.

The A team played Fort Rangers in Goresbridge and at half time the score was 0-0. Right back, John Kelly opened the scoring for Bridge with a fine individual goal. Fort Rangers soon equalised but Conor English restored the Bridge lead with a well taken goal and Sean Barcoe was on hand to finish the game with a third goal after a super pass from James Bolger.

Bridge United ladies team played Tullaroan in the shield semi-final. In a hard fought game Bridge trailed 1-0 at half time but they finally levelled ten minutes before the end through a Clodagh McDonald header and hit the front minutes later when Lauren Barcoe volleyed home from eight yards to finish the game 2-1.

Bridge United B team travelled to Bennetsbridge to play East End B and came away with a 5-2 win to keep them top of the league. This followed on from a 1-0 victory over nearest rivals; St. Anne’s in Goresbridge the previous week, where veteran Mikey Hutchinson was on the mark.

FREE COMPUTER CLASSES - Are you free on Wednesday mornings and would like to avail of free computer classes in Ionad Dara, if so contact Carmel or Marion at 056 7763149 or 087 7385691.

These classes are suitable for beginners or people who would like to gain accreditation at Fetac level 3 or 4. It is wonderful to think that we can avail of these courses on our own doorstop, no travelling into Kilkenny or elsewhere.

CHURCH GATE COLLECTION FOR ST.PATRICK’S DAY - There will be a church gate collection next weekend November 17 and 18 to raise funds for the 2013 St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

KELTIC KATS PLAY MAHERS - Bridge United are holding a cabaret in Maher’s Lounge on Saturday, November 24 at 9pm and the ever popular Keltic Kats will be playing.

Halfords of Kilkenny have come on board and have sponsored door prizes of a car power washer and a mountain bike. Tickets for the event are €3 or two for €5. It promises to be a great night out and always nice to support local clubs and organisations.

GORESBRIDGE DRAMA FESTIVAL - Preparations are going very well at present for Goresbridge One-Act Drama Festival which kicks off on Thursday November 15 and continues on Friday 16 and Saturday 17 in Ionad Dara.

The adjudicator for this year’s festival is well-known actress and script writer Biddy White Lennon. This is the third one-act drama festival to be held in County Kilkenny under the DLI (Drama League of Ireland).

Adult tickets are €10 per night or €20 for a season ticket (all three nights), senior citizens and student tickets €8 per night or €15 for season ticket with children’s tickets €5 per night or €10 for season ticket. Family tickets are available at €20 (two adults and two children).

SHEFFLIN TO LAUNCH CHRISTMAS CD FOR CHARITY - Henry Shefflin, along with Liam McCarthy, extend an invitation to you to the Newpark Hotel, Kilkenny on Thursday 22nd November at 8 pm for the launch of “The Spirit of Christmas” CD in association with the Building of Hope Project.

The CD was recorded by the children who attend the Likoni School for the Blind in Mombasa, Kenya. A total of 183 volunteers from all over Ireland travelled to Mombasa in January and February 2012 and built a home for these blind children. Outside of Co. Clare, the largest number of volunteers came from the Kilkenny-Carlow area.

The CD comprises of eight Christmas Carols. The children put a great effort into the recording of the CD as they had to learn the words through Braille and in English.

They will be on sale on the night for €10 each and all proceeds will be used by the charity for the children’s medical, social and educational needs. Come along and meet Henry and Liam and support a very worthy cause.

PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL - The Parish Pastoral Council will hold their next meeting on November 27 at 7.30 in Ionad Dara. All members are asked to attend and are asked to send in any items that they would like to add to the agenda.

DESIGNING THEIR OWN CHRISTMAS CARDS - Scoil Bhríde students in Goresbridge will be very busy over the next couple of weeks as they are designing their own Christmas cards which will be on sale in packs of 10 in the next few weeks.

MONTH OF THE HOLY SOULS - November is the month of the Holy Souls; you are invited to leave the Dead List into the box in the Church.

An envelope and sheet is supplied in your box of envelopes. A Novena of Masses will be celebrated for all those whose names are on the Altar List of the Dead.

These Masses will take place on Friday November 2 at the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed 9am Goresbridge, 10am Paulstown and Saturday November 3 at 10am in Paulstown and on other dates later in November.

SENIOR CITIZENS CHRISTMAS PARTY- The Paulstown/Goresbridge Senior Citizens Christmas Party has been booked for Sunday December 9 in the Newpark Hotel.
