BORD NA nOG AGM 2013 - The Bord na nOg AGM of Lisdowney GAA Club took place in the GAA Club on Friday, 11th January 2013. The following mentors were voted into place for 2013: U6– Garret Walsh, Kevin Grogan, Richie McEvoy and Anne O’Gorman; U8– Denis O’Connor, Larry Comerford, Brendan Blanchfield, John Delaney, Vincent Dunphy, Karen Cahill and Tom O’Carroll; U10-Tom McEvoy, Stephen Dunne and John Holohan. U12-John Campion, Joe Murphy and George Kenny. U14 - Mark Tallis, Frank Jordan, John Phelan and Tom O’Carroll. U16– Tim Brennan, PJ Kenny, Joe Murphy and John Cashin. Minors– Larry Maher, Philip Walsh, Graham O’Shea, John Banville and Michael O’Carroll.

LISDOWNEY COMMUNITY GAMES - The AGM of Lisdowney Community Games was held on Thursday night. Officers elected for 2013 – Peter Bergin (Chairman and Recruitment, Training and Development Officer); Deirdre Dunne (Secretary); Eithne Downey (Treasurer); Theresa Dunphy (PRO); Claire Holohan (Games Director); Dorothea Bergin(Youth Officer); Nikki Scott (Children’s Officer); and Catherine McEvoy (Committee member). The Under 14 Quiz will be held on Saturday, 2nd February 2013, at 8.15 pm (after Mass) in Lisdowney GAA Club. Teams of four. Entry: €2 per child. Children from 3rd class up can participate. Children participating must be under the age of 14 on the 31st July 2013. The Art Competition will be held on Monday, 11th February 2013 from 3 pm – 4 pm in Lisdowney GAA Club. Entry is €2 per child. All children welcome (categories range from under eights up to under 16). Children must bring their own colours, although paper will be provided. SYMPATHIES - Sympathies are extended to the family of Ned Delaney, Freshford and Gathabawn, who passed awayduring the week. Sympathies are also extended to Theresa Dunphy, Clontubrid, and her family on the death of her uncle which occurred last weekend.

CONGRATulationS - Congratulations to Graham O’Shea, PRO of Lisdowney GAA Club, and his wife, Louise, on the birth of their daughter, Ellie, during the week.

LISDOWNEY GAA MEMBERSHIP - Membership is due for renewal for the coming year. Players’ membership is €70, ordinary membership is €50, children are €20 per child with family membership only €100 for two adults and all children. At least one parent of each child is asked to please join the club, partly for insurance purposes, but also as the children get huge a amount of enjoyment playing with the club, and funding of club activities is always needed. It is essential too that all those who help out with training sessions in any shape or form become members. Garda vetting forms are also available from the club secretary or any member of the committee.

LISDOWNEY GAA AND CAMOGIE CLUB LOTTO - The numbers drawn in the Lisdowney GAA and Camogie Club Lotto on Monday, 14th January 2013, were 4, 16, 17 and 18. There was no winner. Match three winners were Tom O’Carroll and Bernie Blanchfield. Annual club lotto tickets are currently on sale. The annual ticket for €100 enters you into 52 weekly draws. Weekly tickets are just €2 and are available from Hogans’, McGraths’, Bradleys’Butchers and the Credit Union in Ballyragget, O’Carroll’s Pharmacy and Micheal Bergin’s in Freshford, Mackeys’ in Gathbawn, Carmel’s in Lisdowney and from any committee member.

LISDOWNEY BADMINTON CLUB - Badminton for adults continues each Monday night at 8pm in Lisdowney Community Centre.

JUVENILE BADMINTON -Badminton for eight year olds and up has started in Lisdowney Community Centre on Friday nights from 7.30 pm to 8.30 pm. The club has some spare rackets for those who don’t have access to one. Badminton is an energetic sport which children should enjoy. All are welcome.

NIGHT CLASSES - Night classes will commence shortly at Colaiste Mhuire, Johnstown. All welcome. Classes are available in Welding Arc (Tuesdays for nine weeks, €100 for course); Welding Tig Mig (Thursdays for 10 weeks, €120 for course); Crafts – card and gift making (Tuesdays for six weeks, €90 for course); Beginners Computers (Thursdays for eight weeks, €85 for course); Yoga (Thursdays for eight weeks€85 for course); Pilates (Tuesdays for eight weeks,€70 for course); Computerised accounts (Tuesdays for eight weeks, €80 for course); Occupational First Aid (Tuesdays for eight weeks, €85 for course); Gardening –plan your garden (Tuesdays for eight weeks, €85 for course); and Cake Decoration (Tuesdays for four weeks, €50 for course).
