FINAL NUMBER 2-Leinster Camogie Junior B Semi Final . Castlecomer Community School 1-2 vs Colaiste Bhríde 0-3.

Last Thursday in St. Patricks Park, Enniscorthy, Castlecomer camogie women booked a place in their second Leinster Final of the season. This was a hugely competitive game throughout the entire sixty minutes. Match conditions were tough with heavy rain and wind resulting in a low scoring game. The first score of the game, came from a free taken by Katie Nolan. Colaiste Bhríde responded with a point to leave the scores level after fifteen minutes. But the decisive score of the day fell to Comer after Sarah Molloy broke onto a long ball and hit the back of the net with a first time ground shot. This was a huge boost to the Kilkenny woman. The Comer midfield and forwards were worked hard and were led by their young corner forward Danielle Morrissey who was proving quite a handful for the Wexford backs. Scores were hard to come by in the remaining period of the first half, but Enniscorthy pulled a point back from play to leave the half time score at 1-1 to 0-2.

The second half was incredibly entertaining with some wonderful defensive play from both teams. Forwards were finding it hard to break down their opposing backs. There was no score for the first twenty minutes of the second half, until the hard working Traci Farrell shot over a great point from thirty yards after some great work by the Comer forwards. The Wexford women went in search of a goal, but with Edel Coonan dominating centre back they were finding that goal increasingly hard to come by. The Comer midfield and backs were disciplined and relentless of denying their opponents any scoring opportunity. In the dying moments the Wexford women, made one last attack at the Comer goal, the ball fell to their wing forward thirty yards from the goal on the right side-line, but thankfully for Comer, her shot went over the bar. Spectators down in St.Patricks witnessed a fantastic effort from both sides and an immensely exhilarating end to end game. Castlecomer now meet Loreto Wexford in the Leinster Junior B Final in a couple of weeks’ time. They also play St. Marys New Ross in the Senior B Leinster Final next weekend.
