St Canices: Camogie club registration to take place

Club Registration-Dicksboro GAA Club’s registration night for ALL members, adult, adult players and juveniles will take place in Palmerstown on Friday 1st February from 7pm to 9pm. Members are asked to come along and take this opportunity to register and new members are very welcome to attend on the night. It is particularly important that all players are registered before the playing season starts in earnest to cover their insurance.

Dicksboro Camogie Club-At the AGM on Friday night, a successful and busy year was reviewed in which Dicksboro teams participated in competitions at all age groups from under 6 to senior. Registration for the coming year will take place on Saturday 9th February at Palmerstown between 4pm and 6pm. A presentation to the under 11 and Under 12 girls, runners-up in their competition will take place in Palmerstown on Saturday 2nd Feb at 12:00pm. Registration for these girls will also be taken on the day. The club is catering for almost 250 registered players, and the committee is appealing to parents to please volunteer to help out with the training and organising of the various age groups. Sympathies-Dicksboro GAA Club would like to offer it’s sympathies to Sean, Sorcha, Eoin and Áine Fennelly on the recent passing of their mother/grandmother, Teresa Fennelly née Hoyne of Castlebanny, Ballyhale and to all of her family. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a h-anam dílis.

Feast of St. Brigid-Friday 1st February is the Feast of St. Brigid when we traditionally bless and distribute St. Brigid’s Crosses. The crosses are made from rushes (which have already arrived) by the Liturgy Committee and their helpers. If you would like to be involved in making St. Brigid’s Crosses this year the Liturgy Committee would be delighted with your assistance. Crosses will be made on Tuesday 29th January after 9.10am Mass in the parish centre. So do come along and lend a hand. You will be very welcome.

Lifeline Kilkenny-Lifeline Kilkenny (Suicide Prevention) will hold a Community Planning meeting in Butler House, Patrick St, Kilkenny on Wednesday 23rd January at 7.30pm. The purpose of the meeting is to seek people’s ideas and thoughts on how we can put in place actions that can be included in a County Kilkenny Action Plan for Suicide Prevention 2014-2019. All are welcome to this worthwhile event. Together we can make a difference.
