Kilmacow- Ceili in the Community Centre

Ceili - KILMACOW Community Centre will host a ceili at 9.30pm next Friday, 5th April. Music will be provided by the Johnny Reidy Ceili Band. Teas will be served. All support welcome.

Children’s Playground near completion - Work is well underway on the provision of a children’s playground on the Sports Complex on The Farm in Kilmacow. It is intended to have an official opening in a couple of week’s time.

At present the final ‘snag list’ is being addressed and arrangements for insurance are being finalised with Kilkenny County Council The Playground Committee continue to seek support for their ‘Hands in Time’ appeal whereby a hand can be imprinted on the external wall of the playground.

The new playground was visited recently by pupils from St. Senan’s BNS, St. Joseph’s GNS and by children from Kilmacow Montessori School.

South Kilkenny Historical Society - South Kilkenny Historical Society will host a lecture by Aidan O’Hara ‘Women in the era of the American Civil War and the Irish Connection’ at 8.00pm on Thursday, 4th April in the Parish Hall, Mullinavat.

As 200,000 Irish men and women fought in the American Civil War it should be a most interesting lecture. Mr. O’Hara has worked as a presenter and producer with RTE and CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) and his story of the Irish in Newfoundland (Na Gaeil I dTalamh an Eisc) was published in 1998. He also presented three Radharc programmes on the subject in the 1980’s.

Legal matters at ICA meeting - The ICA will host a meeting in the Community Centre, Kilmacow at 9pm on Thursday, 4th April at which a solicitor will be talking on legal matters.

The meeting is open to all.

Kilmacow GAA Club Table Quiz - The Juvenile Section of Kilmacow GAA Club will host a table quiz at 9.00pm on Monday, 8th April in the Fox’s Den, The cost per table of four is €20. All support will be greatly appreciated. Please note that this will be the final table in the monthly series for this year.

Outdoor training commences - Kilmacow GAA Club commences training for its Under ‘12’s (born 2001) to Under 5’s (born 2008) at 6.00pm on Wednesday, 3rd April at the Sports Complex on The Farm. Training for these age groups will continue at the same time and place on a weekly basis.

Return of Trocaire Boxes - Now that Easter is over supporters of the Trocaire Appeal are kindly asked to return their boxes to St Senan’s Church/Marian Hall where a special box has been placed in front of the altar for them.

Design Team for Palliative Care Unit - Kilmacow Hospice Support Group is delighted with the announcement last month by Pat Healy, Director of Operations HSE South of approval to appoint the design team for a 20 bed Palliative Care Unit at the Regional Hospital in Waterford.

This represents a first step in the construction of a long awaited and much needed element of health infrastructure in the South East.

Kilmacow Lotto - The winning numbers in last week’s lotto were 7, 10, 15 and 18. There was one winner of the Jackpot of €12,600 and on e Match 3 winner.

The Jackpot for next Thursday night is €9150.
