Bridge United U15 won the under15 Cup last Monday. They had defeated East End 4-0 in the semi-final on the previous Friday night with goals from Chris Alyward (2), John Nolan and Cathal Treacy. In the final against Freebooters, Bridge United were a goal down at half time, Chris Nolan was introduced and tormented Freebooters and managed to level the match with a 20 yard free. Ten minutes later he put Bridge United ahead with a fine individual goal from close range after turning the Booters defence inside out. Bridge United had a scare later on in the match but managed to hold out for a win having lost the previous year.

The under 16 beat Dean Celtic 5-2 in Castlecomer to force a league play off with Evergreen. They played Evergreen in the Midlands Cup recently, they performed well and were unlucky not to hit the front minutes into the second half with Aidan Hynes blasting a 30 yard free off the post. Bridge had another good chance but then Evergreen scored twice in a few minutes and from then on Bridge were playing catch up with Kevin McDonald scoring a consolation goal.

Bridge United under 14 team played Thomastown in the Cup semi-final, this was always going to be a tight game. Thomastown led 1-0 at half time but Bridge roared back to lead 2-1 and just about held on for victory. The Cup Final is on next Saturday in Derdimus Park against Freebooters, all support welcome.
