The annual field day will take place in the Tullaroan sports grounds on Sunday 1st September commencing at 12.30pm. Events include Tractor Run, Lawn Mower Challenge, Hurling and Camogie Matches, side shows bouncy castles, races and lots more. Bring your families and friends for a great days fun and make it a great gathering.


On Friday 23rd August in the Tullaroan Community Centre a whist drive will be held where monies raised will go to the Community Centre. The drive will commence at 8.45pm and all are welcome.


There was a very large gathering at the Pattern Mass held in Tullaroan on Thursday evening last. A very sincere thanks to everyone who helped in any way.


Several locals are in training for a fundraising cycle to Wexford on Saturday 24th August. They will leave the Village at 9.30pm so come along to cheer them on. All monies raised will go to the hurling and bord Na Nóg clubs. The sponsors of the cycle are Rathealy Pet Lodge, (proprietors John and Dolores O’Flynn).


The hurling club held a very successful cabaret/barbecue in Connolly’s Lounge on Saturday last. A big thanks to John and Joan Connolly publican’s for all their help.


The Tullaroan junior hurling team went under to St. Martin’s in the first round of the junior championship held at the Lisdowney sprots grounds on Monday 12th August.

Tullaroan will line out against The Fenians this Friday evening in the fourth round of the league. All support would be very much appreciated.


A DVD which was complied by the late Dan Grace and produced by his wife Breda Grace is on sale. and is available in Delaney’s Shop, Connolly Lounge, Dick Walshe, The Village phone 0879212667 and Donie Hogan on 0879812112. It features presentations of medals to U16’s, minor and junior winners of the 1983 championships along with presentations of certificates to 1932, 1948 and 1958 Senior County final winners. It also features the Sam Melbourne collection of medals with interviews by May Hogan and the late Tom Ryall. Included in the DVD are interviews by Jim Maher N.T. with Sean Clohosey, Dick Teehan, Dan Hogan Kilmanagh, Jack Egan and Jim Murphy of the Commons. Price €10 for one DVD and €15 for two DVDs.


Grace and Miriam Walsh, Mountgale were on the Kilkenny senior camogie panel who overcame Cork in the All Ireland camogie semi final held in Semple Stadium on Saturday last. They will now play Galway in the All Ireland Final.


Congratulations to Rachel Dowling, Curragh on willing €100.00 in Connolly’s spin and win on Saturday last. The jackpot now stands at €1500.00.


Well done to all the local students who received their Leaving Certificate results last week. They are wished all the best in the chosen careers.


The challenge is to get as many trackers on the road as part of the tracker run and field day on the 1st of September so that the combined horsepower of all the trackers is over 10,000. Starting from the sports field at 1pm. Cost is €20 and is run in aid of the Irish Wheelchair Association.
