Mooncoin: Fishathon for children’s hospital

Ardaire Springs MooncoiN - A 24 hour sponsored fishathon will take place at Ardaire Springs Angling Centre on 18th – 19th August.

All sponsorship raised will go towards the Children’s Medical & Research foundation at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Crumlin.

Mooncoin Drug Awareness Parish Programme - Following their hard work at the Mooncoin Family Fun day, M.D.A.P.P.’s teenage peer educators were treated to an evening of Fishing & Archery at Ardaire Springs Angling Centre, followed by a BBQ on the Deck. The committee would like to thank Ned & his staff for all their help on the evening coaching the teenagers at fishing and on outdoor Archery Range. Some were lucky enough to take home a “catch” for dinner the next day!! A wonderful evening was had by all.

Minister O’Dowd TD to visit Windyhouse - Fergus O’Dowd TD, Minister of State at the Department of Communications, Energy & Natural Resources and Environment, Community & Local Govermment, Dr Ciaran Byrne, CEO, Inland Fisheries Ireland, & John Paul Phelan TD, will visit Windyhouse, Carrigeen on August 13th at 11.00am.

They are coming to Windyhouse, Ballygorey to see snap net salmon fishing in operation and to talk to the local fishermen about what is involved etc. This type of fishing is rare with only 55 licensed operators, mostly on the river’s Suir, Nore and the Barrow. Lots of local fisherman are eager to meet the minister and TD to tell them of their short season which was made shorter this year by the heavy floods on the river Suir.
