Can the community of Bagenalstown topple last year’s winner, Borris and take home the title? The Awards Night begins at 7.30pm in Mount Wolseley on Wednesday, Oct. 24.

ST. ANDREW’S G.F.C. - St. Andrews minor footballers took on Tinryland in a semi-final replay on Oct. 4 in Old Leighlin and came out with a great win with a score line of 5-10 to 2-6 – a tremendous performance by all players. CHAIR YOGA - Gentle exercise and relaxation course commenced in Goresbridge Community Centre, Oct 16 at 12 noon, would suit older adults or anyone who wants to de-stress and learn how to quieten and strengthen the mind for a happier healthier you. Contact Marian 086 308 2450

COFFEE MORNING - Due to unforeseen circumstances the coffee morning scheduled for October 11 had to be changed to Thurs. October 18. You are invited to go along to Leighlinbridge Community Centre on Thursday, Oct. 18 at 10am until 12noon for a cup of tea or coffee and a bun! Proceeds raised will go towards Suicide Awareness.

FASHION SHOW - Bagenalsown Family Resource Centre is hosting a fundraiser Fashion Show in the Lord Bagenal on Tuesday October 23. Tickets are only €10.00 for a fantastic night out with fashions for both men & women, affordable, high street and boutique. Fantastic door prizes and raffle prizes up for grabs. ATHLETIC TRAINING - Bagenalstown Athletic Club trains every Tuesday at the Presentation De La Salle College grounds from 6pm to 7pm. Everyone welcome.

SENIOR CITIZENS GOVERNMENT GRANTS - The government is no longer giving grants for lighting, smoke detectors, etc. However, grants are still available for panic alarms for senior citizens. VOLUNTEER INFORMATION DAY - Kilkenny and Carlow Contact is a community based voluntary organisation for older people, covering Carlow and Kilkenny and they are looking for additional volunteers to commit to one or two hours per week to befriend/visit older people who live alone in your area. The committee will hold an Information Day in Bagenalstown Family Resource Centre on Wed. October 24 at 2.30pm. TRIP TO BELFAST - Bagenalstown and District Active Retirement Association is organising a one day trip to Belfast to visit the Titanic Exhibition on Monday, November 5.
