A new, Diaspora Award will be presented to a Kilkenny Person living and working abroad who has made a considerable success of their new life as an emigrant from this county.

The Kilkenny Chamber of Commerce awards will be held on November 24 and this award will highlight a success story from a local person who has achieved success outside of Ireland.

This new iniative will help bring home the countless good news stories from around the world of Kilkenny people making a success on foreign shores - be they self-employed, starting up a new business, or working for successful companies.

There are many such potential applicants, and with the Gathering 2013 about to commence from January, this is the first such award which will recognise the achievement of Kilkenny people abroad.

The closing date for applications is Friday, November 10. More details on www.kilkennypeople.ie, in the Kilkenny People newspaper and on KCLR.
