MAYOR of Kilkenny Sean O’ hArgain has urged people in Kilkenny to inform and assist their elderly relations and neighbours when it comes to the switch to Saorview – Ireland’s new digital TV service.

MAYOR of Kilkenny Sean O’ hArgain has urged people in Kilkenny to inform and assist their elderly relations and neighbours when it comes to the switch to Saorview – Ireland’s new digital TV service.

At last week’s meeting of Kilkenny Borough Council, the mayor was praising the efforts of a local group who organised an event in the Father McGrath Centre to provide information and demonstrations to people to make sure they they do not get switched off when the country goes digital on October 24.

“We don’t want elderly people switching on their television and getting nothing,” he said.

“We need to make them realise it is not as difficult as they might think. I urge people to look after their elderly relations and neighbours in that regard.”
