Tullaroan: Hoping to raise the green flag

Scoil Ruadháín - Scoil Ruadháin has always been very environmentally aware. For
this reason the whole school community has been working hard to achieve Green Flag status. Bernadette Maloney, Environmental Officer for
Kilkenny has visited the school to advise and encourage the pupils and staff in their efforts. With the establishment of the Green Flag Committee last year the whole school has been working through the seven steps which are necessary to obtain the Green Flag. Following an Art Slogan Competition in March, open to all pupils, the Green School Committee chose ‘Be Keen to Be Green’ as the winning slogan. A further poetry competition resulted in composing a song entitled ‘Be Keen to Be Green’. This has now been established as the school’s Green Code song. Scoil Ruadháin hope to have an Action Day in February and all are working hard towards this.
