Thomastown: Great shield final win

GAA - The Community Field Day is on this Sunday 23rd September from 2pm at the Club Grounds in Grennan. A great day out with fun and games forall the family! Contributions to the Bottle Stall and Wheel of Fortune can bemade at the Club any evening and on Saturday 22nd September.Thomastown took on Clara in the Roinn A Shield Final in Bennettsbridge on Sunday morning. The first half was an evenly contested battle, however Thomastown took full advantage of the strong breeze which saw them ahead at half time by eight points. 4.05 to 2.03. Thomastown held on to their lead and at times it looked like they had a victory sealed however two 21 yard frees late in the game both resulted in goals for Clara. This now set the scene for what was to be nail biting finish. However this group of players from Thomastown held their nerve and held out for a two point victory. This is the first year of this competition

THOMASTOWN PARISH MISSION - A parish mission will be held in the parish in the Autumn it will take place from the 6th to the 14th October. A team will be in the parish for the first week of the mission whose task will be to call to homes inviting all to join us during the second week. To aid them they request names of residents in the areas they will visit. You will have received your census form, it would be very much appreciated if you would now return this to the church or parish office. This will also help to update the parish records and the information will only be used for parish purposes. You help is very much appreciated with this and you attendance at the mission would also be gratefully appreciated.

Pilates - Pilates Beginners classes for couple of weeks which will start on Wednesday 03.10.2012 at 8pm at concert hall in Thomastown. The duration of the course is 10 weeks and cost €110.

Handball - In the last of the 60x30 A championships for 2012 played in Kilfaneon Friday night Kilfane players were to the fore once more. In Boys U 10 Peter McDonald and Conor Holden played together against Kells in the Final. All the training Peter and Conor put in over the summermonths really paid off as they won the title. The boys done the double
as they won the 40x20 title in April.
