John and his team mates had a very successful year. A lot of time and hard work went into their training in the four phase competitions of shooting, swimming, running and horse riding. All the hard work paid off with their successful wins here and overseas. It was a huge honour for John and his team mates to be honoured at the glittering gala function in Hotel Kilkenny. A great night was had by John and his team mates. Well done.

Tullaroan Golf Society - Following a meeting of the society on Friday last it was decided to hold five outings this year, Rathdowney, Callan, Gowran, Dundrum and Tramore. Membership of the society for the year is €20.00 and the first outing will be held in Rathdowney Golf Club on Saturday 6th April costing €25,00 which includes a meal. In her absence Ms. Mary Kenny was thanked for her great work as secretary of the society for the past ten years.

‘My Local Legend’ Eileen - TV3’s Ireland AM programme on Friday morning, 1st March, featured Eileen O’Neill, SNA in Tullaroan N.S. She was nominated by Molly Glennon in Senior Infants in ‘My Local Legend’, a competition organised by TV3.

The programme included interviews with Eileen and Molly, as well as comments from some of Molly’s classmates. Congratulations to Eileen!

Camogie - The Tullaroan camogie club will hold their annual cabaret at the Valley Inn, Woodsgift on Sunday 31st March commencing at 8pm, music by ‘The Baby Powers’. Tickets can be obtained from any club member at a cost of €5.00 each. On the same day the Valley Inn will be hosting a darts tournament.

‘Nappy Appeal - Children’s Orphanage ChernobylA collection will take place in Tullaroan Community Hall on Sat 9th March from 10.30 to 2.30pm. Nappies, toiletries (wipes, toilet roll, nappy creams, shampoo etc.), blankets & clothes (in good condition) are being collected. Contact Helena Holland at 7769980 for information. Spin and Win - On Saturday 2nd March John Joe Hennessy was the lucky winner of €150.00 in Connolly’s spin and win. The jackpot now stands at €2000.00.

Ossory Pilgrimage to Lourdes - This year the pilgrimage takes place from 22nd to 27th May. Booking forms are available from Glenmore Parish Office on 051880414. Opening hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 1030am to 2.30pm.

Schools Hurling - Congratulations to Shane Cuddihy, Brittas, Tullaroan who was on the C.B.S. senior team that defeated St. Kieran’s College in the Leinster Schools Final held at Nolan Park, Kilkenny on Sunday last. Shane played very well throughout the match.

Kilkenny Senior Hurlers Family Race Day - Gowran Park will host a family race day for the Kilkenny hurlers on Saturday 23rd March. The first race on the card is the Tommy Walsh Maiden Hurdle. This promises to be a great day out .Tickets cost €10 euro for Adults and under 16s are free. Tickets can be purchased from any Club Officer.

Afternoon Tea Dance - Dust off your dancing shoes for the Afternoon Tea Dance at Tullaroan Community Centre from 3pm to 6pm on Sunday 10th March. Admission including tea, sandwiches, hot and cold finger food and raffle is €10 and music will be by ‘Checkers’. This is a fund raising event for the ongoing maintenance at the community centre.
