Enrolment - Both National Schools in the parish are now enrolling for Junior Infants next September. At St Kieran’s National School forms are available at the school phone 0568831611. Graine Hall - Supervised study for secondary school students is now up and running in Graine Hall. Sessions are 9am to 1pm and 2pm to 6pm with breaks during the sessions. Fee €3 for half day and €5 for a full day. Contact Helen Leahy at 0863994204 after 4pm for further details.
Spa Development/Fenians Lotto - Last weeks winning numbers were 4,22,23,30. There was one match three Kevin Power, Bawnmore. Promoter Ann Power. Next weeks jackpot stands at €3200 and the draw is in Barrys Bar.
Daffodil Day - The annual Coffee Morning for Daffodil Day will be held in Sharkeys, Spa House on Sat March 23rd from 10.30am onwards. They are looking forward to meeting all our usual guests and perhaps some new ones for the cuppa and the goodies and the chat as well as helping a very worthy cause. The money raised will go to the Irish Cancer Society and the Kilkenny Carlow Home Care Team.
The late Mr Tommy Henderson RIP - The death occurred on Monday last at his home “Greeksville” Rathdowney Road, Johnstown of Tommy Henderson. Tommy passed away peacefully after a long illness. Son of the late Patrick and Margaret Henderson The Park Tom was the last surviving member of his family having been predeceased by his brothers Jimmy, Dan and Ger and his sister Delia. Tom was very well known in the parish and in his youth took a great interest in amateur dramatics. He produced and directed many fine plays with St Kieran’s Dramatic Society. These plays were very well received in the local hall. Tommys passing is a sad occasion to his wife of 60 years Nan, his sons Pat, Jimmy and Tom, daughter Peg, daughters in law, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was laid to rest in Johnstown Cemetery beside his son Joe who predeceased him by many years . Requiem Mass was celebrated in St Kieran’s Church prior to his burial. May he rest in peace.
Mrs Mary OBrien RIP - Mary OBrien died peacefully at her home in Bawn, Galmoy last Tuesday. Pre deceased by her husband William by many years Mary was of a friendly outgoing disposition and was very active up to last Christmas. Last Sept she came on a trip to Westport with Johnstown Active Retired Group and thoroughly enjoyed it. She met one of her grand daughters who is a landscape gardener in Kylemore Abbey and she took her to see all the sights. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Mary, grand daughters Fiona, Eleanor and Regina \nd grandson William, great grand children Sean, Madeline, Ellen and Pippa, sisters Lil,Sally, Peggy and Winifred nieces, nephews, many relatives and friends. Burial took place in Galmoy Cemetery after Requiem Mass in the Church of the Immaculate Conception Galmoy. May she rest in peace.
Trocaire Fast Boxes - The Trocaire Lenten Campaign concentrates this year on the welfare of people in India to help them become self sufficient. The fast boxes are available at the back of both churches in the parish.
Pilgrimage - The Ossory Pilgrimage to Lourdes takes place May 22nd to 27th. The cast is €735pps which includes the bus to and from the airport. Booking to the parish office Glenmore 051880414 Mon, Tues, Thurs and Fri 10.30am to 2.30pm. Closed all day Wed.
