Goresbridge: Two titles for Goresbridge

Handball - In handball this week the County League finals took place. On Tuesday night in O’ Loughlin’s John O Neill took on Diarmuid Burke (Kells) in the Div 2 final. John has had a great league not having lost any games on his way to the final. This final went all the way to the wire with the Goresbridge man coming out on top 11-9 in the tie break. On Saturday evening JJ English took on Brian Mahon (Clogh) in the Minor League final. These two lads know each other well as they played together in the World Championship just a few weeks ago. From the start they got stuck into each other and JJ took the first game. JJ got off to a good start in the second game and never really looked back and won well. Well done to both lads on great wins for the club. Michael Carey and Sean Carey went down last weekend when losing their All Ireland semis in the team events for Kilkenny, but it has to be said well done to the lads for getting to that stage. Big thanks from coach, Eddie English to John O Neill, Andrew Hosey and Stephen Barcoe for all their help with JJ, providing him with the tough games he needs at this stage. Well done to all and keep up the good work.
