Conahy: Good win for footballers

FOOTBALL - The under-16 footballers were in action on Saturday afternoon and scored a comfortable victory over Young Irelands in the Roinn C championship in Jenkinstown. The locals were in control from an early stage and were full value for their eventual 4-9 to 0-5 win. They now face Fenians in the quarter-finals, which will take place on Saturday week.

BÓRD NA ÓG AGM - Conahy Shamrocks Bórd na n-Óg held their AGM in the GAA Clubhouse on Friday night last. A fine attendance of parents and club members were present to review a season that had many highlights. Chairman Sean Cahill thanked all the parents for their co-operation and assistance throughout the year. He also paid tribute to all the coaches involved with all the under-age teams for their hard work throughout the year and wished all those involved with the teams for 2013 the very best of luck. The officers and managers selected for 2013 were: Chairman – Billy Hennessy, Secretary – Ann Marie Feehan, Treasurer – Mairéad Bergin, MINOR – John Carroll, Under-16 – Nicky Feehan, Under-14 – Tony Gunner, Under-12 – Patsy Blanche, Under-10 – Tony Duggan, Under-8 – Brian Lacey, Under-6 – Neil Morrison.

The adult section of the club will hold their AGM on Friday night next in the GAA Clubhouse at 8 p.m. All club members are welcome to attend.

MEDAL PRESENTATION - The GAA Clubhouse was the venue on Saturday night last for a presentation of various medals for a number of competitions won by Conahy Shamrocks in 2011 and 2012. The highly successful junior B hurlers were presented with Northern, County, Leinster and All-Ireland medals after their great success throughout last year and earlier this year. The successful intermediate football champions from last year were also presented with their league and championship medals on the night. Congratulations to all the players who received their various honours on the night.

LADIES FOOTBALL - The ladies footballers will hold a “Crazy for Shoes” night tomorrow night (Thursday) in the GAA Clubhouse. Shoes, handbags, scarves, hats, wedding accessories and lots more will be on display. This event is open to everyone, so all are welcome to this girls’ night out.

LOTTO - The numbers in the recent Conahy Shamrocks GAA Club Lotto draw were 13, 16 and 20. There was no jackpot winner so the consolation prize winners were Ciaran Muldowney, Thérèse Kearney, Glenda Reilly, Claire Gunner and Mary Cass. The promoters’ prize winners were Carmel Buggy, Brian Lacey and Conor Brennan. This week’s jackpot now stands at €4,200.

HERITAGE SOCIETY - Conahy Heritage Society hold their AGM on Wednesday, December 5th, in Conahy Hall at 8.00 p.m. All Society members are welcome to attend.

LADIES CLUB - Conahy Ladies Club host a floral arrangement demonstration by Eva Holmes on this Friday, November 30th at 8 p.m. in Conahy Hall. Tickets are available from Ladies Club members and all proceeds raised will go towards the Senior Citizens Christmas Party. All support would be greatly appreciated.

Foroige - The foroige club recently elected a committee to help to run the foroige club they are Amy Morrissey (secretary), Kieran Delaney (treasurer), Sarah Molloy (chairperson), Katelyn Leahy (PRO).
