Lotto - The parish lotto with a jackpot and of €6,800 was not won, small winners were €30 Pat Barnaville, €25 Ann Marie Deegan, €20 John Shortall. The lotto will be in the Castle Arms Hotel, on April 22 with a possible jackpot of €7,100. Tickets must be handed in before 9.30pm on the night of the draw to be included in that jackpot.

Tidy Towns - The annual general meeting of Durrow Tidy Towns will be held in the Castle Arms Hotel on Thursday night April 18 at 8.30pm. The committee would like to see more support for their great work and are inviting every householder to come to the meeting and be a part of tidy towns.

Tea/Coffee - I would like to thank most sincerely everyone who supported a Tea/Coffee day in my house on Friday, April 5. A total of two thousand and thirty euro was collected for the Irish Cancer Society. I was overwhelmed by the gerorisity of everyone - a big thank you from Jacinta Fitzpatrick.

Dawn Chorus - The dawn chorus will be held on Sunday, May 5 in Dunmore Wood at 5am. Assemble at Dunmore Wood car park and enjoy the walk led by Pat Durkin of Birdwatch Ireland. Breakfast will be served on return. All welcome and for more details contact Noleen Dunphy 087 9636460.

Draw - Congratulations to John Healy, Littleton on winning €500 in the Laois GAA County Board Draw. This is the second winner in the first two draws and hopefully with two more draws to come one of the Harps ticket holders will win the top prize of €10,000.

Choir - The Laois ICA choir will perform in the Church of Ireland Abbeyleix on Thursday night April 18 at 8 pm. your support would be greatly appreciated.

Daffodil Day - The amount collected for the Cullohill area for Daffodil Day for the Irish Cancer Society was €2,713. Sincere thanks to the collectors and to everyone who donated so generously. The money has been presented to the Irish Cancer Society.

Vintage Club - The 11th Annual Vintage Vehicle show and autojumble organised by Durrow Vintage Club will be held on Sunday, April 21 at the Cork Road, Durrow. A special display of Lanz Bulldog Tractors and pre-1930’s cars and motor bicycles will take place on the day. Admission ; adults, €5, children free. All proceeds will be given to charity. School Re-Union - Durrow Development forum in conjunction with the Gathering are organising a school reunion of St Fintan’s College in Castle Durrow on Sunday, July 28. With such demands on the committee for the Scarecrow Festival it is now proposed to focus on Secondary School pupils from 1965 to 1970. Although all classes are welcome to come along and anyone with information for these years we would be grateful for your help. Particular interest in the first year classes of these years as it would include every student regardless of whether they left after the Inter or Leaving certificate.
