SPRING CLEAN - National Spring Clean gets underway this April. Last year more than half a million people all over Ireland took part in the campaign, collecting almost 1675 tonnes of litter!! Ms Jannette O’Brien, Carlow County Council has announced that Bagenalstown Spring Clean will take place on Friday, April 26 at 11am in the Town Park, Bagenalstown.

Following the success of last year’s project in Bagenalstown, where schools, agencies, and local volunteers came together to wage war on waste, Muinebheag Town Council, in conjunction with Bagenalstown Improvement Group, would like to invite you and your organisation to participate in our Bagenalstown Spring Clean.

Ms O’Brien has invited voluntary organisations, clubs and groups in Bagenalstown to get involved and give some time to Bagenalstown, “Lets show litter louts that we love where we live. We invite your group to get involved and give some time to Bagenalstown.”

BALLYLOUGHAN GUILD ICA - Ballyloughan ICA Guild held their AGM on March 20 in the Castle Hall. Nicola Byrne, Carlow Federation President, presided at the meeting where last year’s committee were returned for another year. President Margaret Minchin, Secretary Margot Hennessy, Treasurer Evelyn Jenkinson, Vice President Margaret O’Neill, Assistant Secretary Ann Geoghegan, Assistant Treasurer Breda Spruhan. The outing to Cork in July is full and all payments to be paid in full to Ann Geoghegan by May meeting. DUNLECKNEY GRAVEYARD IMPROVEMENT GROUP - Work on the maintenance of Dunleckney graveyard will recommence on Saturday, April 20 next. The committee works from around 11am to 1pm each Saturday and now appeals for more assistance in order to keep this graveyard in a state that fittingly remembers all those who are buried there. If you have time, then please come along and help. The annual collection will take place on Saturday and Sunday, May 4 & 5 next. The committee is most appreciative of the support they have received and all funds are used to maintain the graveyard, which has been transformed from a wilderness into a graveyard where access to all areas is now possible.

JOB SEEKING SKILLS OUTREACH PROGRAMME - Carlow Jobs Club is running a Job Seeking Skills Outreach Programme in the Family Resource Centre in Bagenalstown, starting on Monday, May 27. The programme runs for 3 weeks, 10am - 12.45pm.

Training areas include: CV Preparation, Creating Cover Letters, Interview Techniques, Filling in Application Forms, Aptitude Tests and Emails, Mock Interviews etc.

This is a free service and participants who attend and complete the programme will receive €60 on completion of the programme to help with additional costs. Social Welfare payments will not be affected.

CRYS 5km FUN RUN/WALK - Carlow Regional Youth Services are holding a 5km Fun Run/Walk & Family Day on Sunday, April 21 at 11.30am, from Carlow Rugby Club.
