Opening its season with the Kilkenny Walking Festival, Paulstown’s Shankill Castle will host guided walks every Saturday and Sunday in April starting at 3pm outside the castle door.
A history of the landscape and gardens will be given and unusual features, plants and trees will be highlighted. There is also a “buy one, get one half-price” deal available on all tickets for the walks and for the castle tours.
There will be afternoon tea in aid of Self Help Africa on Easter Sunday and Easter Monday inside the castle. Self Help Africa was founded 27 years ago in Hacketstown, County Carlow and works at grassroots level in eight African countries to empower rural Africans to become independent of aid and to develop sustainable methods of farming, entrepreneurship and enterprise.
Shankill will also be open midweek during the Easter holidays.
The house and grounds are open from 2-6pm and there is no need to book in advance.
