URLINGFORD / JOHNSTOWN / GALMOY COMMUNITY GAMES - Well done to all children who turned out to participate in our local area sports day which was held in Urlingford Saturday 2nd June, 2012. All children enjoyed the day and even the rain could not damper their enthusiasm. A big thank you to all the community games committee and the parents who helped out with organising the sports day. The highlight of the day definitely goes to the penalty shootout with P.J Ryan. P.J Ryan was a big hit with the young hurling and camogie players who tried their best to get a goal past the famous goalkeeper. P.J also lent a helping hand when he judged the U12 & U14 long puck. A big thanks goes to P.J Ryan for giving his time to the Community Games. Also we must take this opportunity to thank our areas’ other county stars, Derek Lyng, P.J Delaney & Catherine Doherty who have given their time our Community Games Hurling blitz & training sessions this year. Also thanks to John Maher & Daniel Hennessy who provided the H.B Ice Cream Truck and to Sean Doherty who provided an excellent P.A service for the day. After the sports day, adults retired to an evening of BBQ & music at Doyles Bar Urlingford, which was held as a fundraiser for community games. The committee would like to thank Helen & Michael Doyle for all their work in organising the BBQ and for sponsoring the cost of the band for the night and the door prize of an Annual ticket to Thurles Races.
