What will I play - Violin, Cello, Recorder or Piano? This is the question in the minds of the young musicians-to-be, coming for audition to the Kilkenny School of Music this month.

What will I play - Violin, Cello, Recorder or Piano? This is the question in the minds of the young musicians-to-be, coming for audition to the Kilkenny School of Music this month.

“In fact many of our new pupils come to do the introductory Foundation Year before they start to play,” says Philip Edmondson, Director of the School. “They do lots of singing and learn about rhythm before going on to play an instrument. It is open to all beginners from Senior Infants to 2nd Class, and it gives them a great start. We are holding auditions now, and start lessons in September.”

The School of Music offers lessons in the full range of orchestral instruments: Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass: Clarinet, Oboe, Flute: all the Brass instruments, and Piano. The School also has 3 orchestras and a choir. For enrolment details see the Advertisement in this issue.
