SOCCER - A large number of children, who usually play together on the hurling and football teams went in to Kilkenny last Friday night where members of Freshford Soccer club and Lions soccer club were awarded with medals. well done to all those involved.
MINI MARATHON - Well done to all the ladies who participated in and completed the Lady’s Mini Marathon on the Bank Holiday Monday. Especially to all the camogie girls, Siobhan Holland, Emer Mulhall, Janette Boran, Mary Margaret Marum, Dervla Gannon, Maeve Gannon, Sarah Staunton, Kate Holland, Claire DUnne, Noreen Murphy, Jessica Foley, and Kellie Ann Quinn (who did it in spirit). JUNIOR HURLING - Lisdowney lined out against Erins Own last Tuesday. They played well in the first half, Castlecomer scored 2 points in the opening five minutes and then didn’t score again until the 27th minute. Lisdowney were on good scoring form with 8 from play and 2 frees, but in the last minute Comer got a goal from a free, half time score 0:10 to Lisdowney to Castlecomer’s 1:4.
The first half ending set the tempo for the second half. While Lisdowney struggled to gain scores they conceded 9 frees which provided Erin’s Own’s David Buggy with 1:8 plus they got another 3 points. The teams equalised in the 22nd minute, and the match finished with 3 alternate points a piece.

JUNIOR A HURLING - The Junior A team were narrowly beaten by Young Irelands in Gowran last Sunday with a final score of 2:18 to 3:13 in favour of the home team.
UNDER 14 HURLING - On Monday 5th, the Bank Holiday, Lisdowney met Paulstown. All the play was in the Lisdowney forward line for the first fifteen minutes,to lead by 2:3 to no score. It was a full 20 minutes before paulstown eventually got a point from a free, but Lisdowney were still attacking hard.
Paulstown’s only score from play in the half came from a tight ball in the corner and was perfectly directed between the posts, but lisdowney’s reaction was a point to bring the half time score up to 2:6 to 2 points.
Lisdowney were first to score with a point, then a point from a free, and a pass from a Paulstown free gained them a goal.
Midway through the second half both sides were struggling for scores, but the last quarter gave Lisdowney another goal and 8 points to Paulstown’s 4 points. Final score was 3:13 to 1:6 for Lisdowney.

UNDER 14 FOOTBALL - The semi final of the Championship was to be played against Glenmore last Friday however Lisdowney were awarded a walkover and so are now in the final against Piltown. Date as yet unconfirmed.
SCHOOL HURLING - On Friday last, in a very wet Jenkinstown pitch the county league semi final took place between Lisdowney and Danesfort. This was a very competitive match and Lisdowney only just managed to pull it out of the hat on a scoreline of 1:3 to 1:1. They now face Graiguenamanagh in the final, the date is still undecided.
SCHOOL CAMOGIE - The girls travelled to Bennettsbridge last Tuesday to play the Rower in the County Semi final. Unfortunately the referee did not show up and the match was rescheduled for this Tuesday, details unavailable.
LISDOWNEY SEVENS - This well renowned and very popular tournament, which again was held on three weekends in September, is now to be run off on the last two weekends of July, and the first weekend in August - again to accommodate the very busy underage club scene in September. It is hoped that even more clubs will participate this year than previous years.

LOTTO - There was no winner of last week’s Lisdowney GAA and Camogie Club Lotto Draw. Numbers drawn were 10, 15, 25 and 26. Match 3 winner was Liam Healy. Next week’s jackpot is €3,600. The draw will held in Mackey’s in Gathbawn, on Monday 18th June 2012.
