FRESHFORD TOWN NEWS - The victorious Freshford Town U11 team collected their League Cup in the Springhill Hotel at the KDL awards night on Friday night last, having won the league after a superb unbeaten season.  Captain Cathal O’Leary collected the Cup from Mayor Fitzgerald on behalf of the team and Cian Franey collected the U11 KDL Div.2 Player of the Year award.  Both boys may have picked up the awards but they merely represented the whole squad of 17 boys who did fantastically well and were a credit to the management team, parents and Freshford Town soccer club.  The boys had a great night and before they received their medals they all took it in turn to have a drink from the cup.  It might not have been champagne but it tasted just as sweet!!!  The awards for the Club did not stop there however Freshford Town had other awards to receive on the night; Adam Garret collected medals on behalf of the U14’s team who finished a close second in their league after a great campaign and Michael Kenny collected the U17 Cup and medals on behalf of the U17’s who had a great fantastic Cup win.  It all rounded off a great season for Freshford Town, well done to all involved.
