Family Fun Day-The Ballyhale Family Fun Weekend was a fantastic success. Dunamaggin won the Aylward Cup and Abbeyside in Dungarvan won the Shield Final on Saturday. The Juvenile Committee organised tea, sandwiches and goodies, all kindly made and handed in by the Parents.

There were10 teams involved in the soccer blitz. Both semi finals went to penalties with Johnny Doyle’s losing out to Michael O’Sullivan’s team and Mickey O’Keeffe’s team and a team from Castlebanny. The final was between Michael O’Sullivan’s team and Mickey O’Keeffe’s team with Michael O’Sullivan’s team winning 2-1. 35 teams took part in the road hurling. The weather held up and there was great fun on the 4.5km route.

The long puck part of the route was won by Richie Reid Junior. This title was hotly contested during the day with Bob Aylward starting with a great shot then Patrick Doyle passing him and Dermot Ryan thinking of making a comeback after his great shot and for Richie to pip him to the title. Ritchie Reid won a €50 voucher for his ‘longest puck’ and his ‘team-mates Sean Reid & Stephen Donnelly a Polo-shirt each!

There was a puck off between three teams - Eoin Knox’s team; A team from Glenmore and a team from Mullinavat.

The Shamrocks made presentations to our County Representatives being Henry Shefflin, Michael Fennelly, Colin Fennelly, Cha Fitzpatrick, T.J. Reid and Richie Reid, a special presentation was made to Hurler of the Year Michael Fennelly.

There was a Zumba Demonstration provided by Marie Barry. Live Music by Paschal, Tony and Sean.
Everyone is thanked for their help and assistance in making the weekend a success.

Kilkenny-What a fantastic display from Kilkenny in last Sunday’s All-Ireland semi-final. In the first half Shamrocks’ players Henry Shefflin, Michael and Colin Fennelly and TJ Reid were responsible for 1-6 of the 1-9 scored. The game opened up for Kilkenny in the second half and it has to be said that TJ Reid went very hard on a Man of the Match award! In any case he has surely nailed down a starting place in an All-Ireland Final team?

Lisdowney-Congratulations to the Shamrocks Lisdowney Sevens winning team. This is a very difficult competition to win and the list of players who have won in the past reads like a who’s who of senior club players. These young lads are definitely players for the future!

Camogie-Well done to Ciara Shorthall, Tara Cody and Lucy Elvidge who took part in the Kilkenny Camogie Under 15 Development Squad. They have played blitzes in both Limerick and a National blitz held in Kilkenny – and they have the t-shirt to prove it!

Leaving Cert-Congratulations to all those who received their Leaving Cert. results last week. Early this week the first round of CAO offers were made. Hopefully every student will get one of their higher preferences. Those who don’t should stay calm and look at their options – there are always opportunities and openings for bright young people!

Congratulations-Happy Birthday to Kelly Ireland O’Sullivan, Clodagh Corcoran and Rachel Kinihan – all of whom recently celebrated their birthdays. Birthday wishes to all those who have celebrated theirs also.
