HERITAGE WEEK-Duchas Heritage Society will hold a two part event this Saturday as part of the Heritage Week Programme. Richard Cody will give an outdoor talk on Stroan Fountain and it’s history and local historian, Joe Doyle will speak on The Round Tower and the recent conservation and renovation work carried out. All are welcome to attend what should be an interesting afternoon, commencing at 2.30pm.
ST FIACRE’S WELL-The Annual novena at St Fiacre’s Well is currently in progress and will continue each evening with novena prayers each evening at 8pm. Final novena prayers at the well on Sunday, 26th August at 3.00pm. Annual Mass follows at 3.30pm. All welcome.
St Fiacre’s Well is accessed via the avenue of Sheastown House situated about three miles from Kilkenny on the Bennettsbridge Road.

Bord Na Nog- The U-12’s gave an unbeatable performance against O’Loughlin’s on Monday night scoring an almighty win. Well done to a great and courageous team.U12s also welcomed a visiting U12 Belfast team to Bennettsbrige at the weekend. There was a great display of hurling and the visitors enjoyed refreshments and local hospitality. Thanks to all the parents who made the Northern visitors stay most enjoyable. U14s were in hard luck in Thomastown when they met a very strong Dunnamaggin team in the League Final. Bennettsbridge fought hard but were unlucky on the day.
U16s are into the next round of the Championship having beaten Kilmacow in Dunnamaggin on Saturday evening with a fine team performance. It was a great day for Bennettsbridge with two great performances from the Juniors and U16s to keep the momentum going in the village. Darts Night for Mary and Nuala. On Tuesday 21st Augus, there was a special night held in The Corner House to help Mary Blanchfield and Nuala Sharpe raise funds to partake in a 50k Trek for Oxfam Ireland. The night consisted of a “Fun Darts Night” in The Corner House and was open to men and women. The night was well supported and anyone wishing to help the cause can contact Mary or Nuala. ART EXHIBITION-The Bennettsbridge Art Group exhibition, entitled “The Drawing Class of 2012, drew to a close on Sunday. Members were pleased with the interest shown and intend to continue with their classes at a future date.
