MUNSTER FINAL POSSIBILITY - Scoil Mhuire (Carrick-on-Suir) senior camogie team will play St, Joseph’s Secondary School, Doon (Limerick) in the Munster College’s semi final on Thursday. The game might take place in Piltown. Should Scoil Mhuire win, the Munster Final will take place on Saturday. What is the significance of this you may ask? The local significance is that all but three of the Scoil Mhuire panel are Piltown Camogie players. It would be an incredible achievement for Piltown Camogie should the locally powered school go on to add a provincial title to the long list of county titles won in 2012. Stay tuned to www.piltown.kilkenny.gaa.ie for up to date news on the games, confirmed venues and times.
PILTOWN’S GREATEST EVER GAA ACHIEVEMENT - After weeks of voting, the top two nominations in Piltown’s Greatest Ever GAA Achievements have finished level! One is from hurling (Junior Hurling Leinster Champions in 2003) and the other from Camogie (4 Camogie County titles in 2012 (U14 Féile, U16 Roinn A, Minor Roinn B & U21 Roinn B)). These are without doubt the greatest hurling and Camogie achievements as voted for by visitors to the official club website. Now in the great tradition of reality shows and proportional representation, all other nominations have been eliminated and a second round of voting will take place until 31st January 2013. The novel idea has generated plenty of debate over the Christmas period and it is now down to a head to head between a hurling nomination and a Camogie nomination. Voting details are available on www.piltown.kilkennny.gaa.ie All voters will be entered into a draw for a Waterford Crystal Monique Huillier Bowl.
INVITE TO THE GATHERING 2013 - All ex-patriots of Piltown are invited to the Gathering 2013. This is your invitation. The main trust of the Piltown Gathering activities will most likely occur around the time of the Iverk Show (Saturday 31st August). If you are reading this or viewing this article online why not consider making your annual trip “home” around this time. If you were considering organising a school reunion, around that period would also be an apt time. If you wish to promote a Gathering event, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
