CHILDMINDING COURSE - Are you a childminder or thinking of becoming a childminder? An “introduction to childminding course” will take place in Kilkenny on Saturday 10th and Saturday 17th of November from 10am – 4pm each day. CLEERES BAR CONTINUE WINNING MOMENTUM - Cleere’s Bar continued their winning momentum in the Kilkenny and District Floodlit league with a 2-0 victory over Mullinahone. Andrew Barcoe set-up Colm Kennedy, and Kennedy fired home to break the deadlock just before the interval. Mullinahone enjoyed a considerable amount of possession but couldn’t make that count on the scoreboard, and it was Cleere’s who put themselves in the driving seat midway through the second-half. John Whelan scored a magnificent curling free-kick as Cleere;s ran out 2-0 winners. Cleeres Bar were in action against OS United last night.
BRIDGE - Bridge at Gowran Park will take place on Wednesday’s for the winter commencing this Wednesday at 2pm. All are welcome to the improver class.
HENNESSY STRIKES TREBLE AS LEGER HEATS COMMENCE - The opening round heats of the Irish St. Leger commenced in Limerick Greyhound Track last Saturday night, and it was a very profitable evening for local trainer Paul Hennessy who recorded a treble. Firstly, Money Money Money obliged odds-on favourite in heat 1 winning by four and a half lengths in 29.92 seconds. Priceless Sky completed the double in trap 5 winning by three and a half lengths in 29.68 seconds, before the treble was completed in the 12th and final heat when Droopys Comedien narrowly won by half a length in 30.00seconds.
MISSION 2012 - For the first time since 1995, there will be a parish mission with plenty of events happening. The mission commences this coming Saturday 3rd November, before concluding on Friday week 9th November. The mission will be conducted by the Redemptorist team of Fr. John Hanna and Fr. Brendan Keane at both Gowran and Dungarvan churches. This Saturday evening and Sunday mornings, there will be a special Mass to introduce the Mission, while following the Sunday morning Mass, there will be a special event to bless the babies.. Meanwhile, later on that Sunday evening, there will be Mass for the “Opening of the Mission”. On Monday 5th November, there will be 9.30am Mass in Gowran church, and likewise morning Mass on Tuesday 6th November. Later on that Tuesday evening, there will be a “Family Mass” in the local church. The following morning on Wednesday 7th November, there will be 9.30am Mass in Gowran church, while later on that evening, there will be reconciliation Mass in Dungarvan church. Another morning Mass the next morning on Thursday at 9.30am, while later on that evening, there will be a youth Mass and prayer commencing at 7pm. The final day of the Mission will be Friday 9th November, and there will be morning Mass at 9.30am in Gowran Church, before the evening Mass at 7.30pm will close the Mission, and will also celebrate the community of the parish.
STOOK 10 MILE ROAD RACE - The Stook 10 mile Road Race will take place on Sunday 18th November, with the event been co-hosted by both Gowran Athletic Club and Young Irelands GAA Club. If you are interested in a fun walk or a shorter run don’t worry. There will be a 5KM dash/fun walk on the day also. The 5KM loop takes in much the same scenery around Kilmanahan without the steep hills. The 5KM dash/fun walk is a guaranteed enjoyable day for all the family. Entry fee for the 10 mile road race is €20, while entry fee for the dash/walk costing just €10. Under-12s can enter free of charge.
