St Patrick’s Day Parade - For a second year in a row Dicksboro GAA Club along with Dicksboro Camogie Club has won the ‘Most Entertaining Float’ in Kilkenny City’s St. Patrick’s Day parade. This year’s theme of “Other clubs have no hope, ‘cos the ‘Boro has the Pope” was only hatched last week at a meeting held in Palmerstown, but the inspirational idea by Sean Keane proved to be a big hit with the judges. Volunteers, Andy Ryan, Pat Moylan, Tony Butler, John Clarke, Edmund Nolan and Sean Keane then went about the construction of the float in Jim Manning’s shed. Artwork for the float was very professionally done by Sinead Maher. On the day, without doubt, the stars of the show were the ‘Boro boys and girls, who turned out in big numbers, marshalled by their mentors and sang from start to finish with great enthusiasm. The principal characters on the float were His Holiness the Pope Patsy Dempsey, Cardinal Sean Keane, Fr. Pat Moylan, Sister Síle O’Reilly and Sister Sarah Phelan, all looking very angelic indeed. Well done to all concerned, it is very important for a club like Dicksboro to involve itself in community projects like this.

Under 14 Football- Hard luck to our Roinn ‘A’ football team who were defeated in the League Shield final at the weekend by Thomastown by 1-5 to 2-7.
