O’LOUGHLIN GAELS ARE U14 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONS AGAIN-The O’Loughlin Gaels U14 Footballers had a fine victory over a strong James Stephens side in the Roinn A League Final played in St Johns Park on Sunday. Playing against a strong breeze in the first half, O’Loughlins trailed by 1 point at half time, 3-2 to 3-1. The young Gaels had worked their way back into the match having trailed by 7 points after just 15 minutes. Highlights of the comeback were the outstanding displays of Luke Hogan and John Delaney in defence and Eoin Wall in attack.
The second half saw O’Loughlins take control of the game at midfield and this allowed their forwards a platform to display all of their undoubted skills. The inter-play of Jordan Molloy, Ronan Buckley, Ian Clifford and Jamie Ryan was of the highest order and they went on to record a 6-7 to 4-2 victory.
This is the 4th year in succession that O’Loughlins have captured the league crown, and attentions now turn to the Football Championship, where they will meet Dicksboro in the Semi-Final.
All of the boys performed excellently in difficult conditions and everyone in O’Loughlins can be extremely proud of the way they went about their business in securing the first silverware for 2013.
