Despite the inclement weather over 60 walkers set out from Mackeys Bar Gathabawn a the 19km walk on MacGiollapadraig Way on October bank holiday Monday.

The walk was led by clan members Donal MacGiollapadraig and Padraig MacGiollapadraig while at the finish all were entertained at the Castle Arms Hotel Durrow.

South Laois Tourism plan to hold a guided walk on this trail twice a year with a gathering of the MacGiollaPadraig clan planned to coincide with the 2012 Easter Sunday walk. Organisers offer their thanks to all who made the day the success it was, especially bus driver Ned Moore, who made sure all were well catered for.
