Kilkenny Youthbank – a group of young people who fundraise money and distribute it to other youth groups around the county – is now accepting applications for such grants.
Kilkenny Youthbank is based in Callan and is made of young people around the area aged 15-17. They meet once a week and get training on grant making and come up with fundraising ideas. This gives them a chance to relax and have fun after school while also helping the community and surrounding areas.
Once they have fundraised the money, it is then matched by Ulster Bank, and the group makes decisions on which applicants are successful. All the decisions are made by young people to benefit the youth of the county.
For their first grant round of the year, applications are available to any youth group around the county. Groups can receive up to €500. The closing date for applications is April 20.
Applicants are available at Ossory Youth, or find the group on Facebook: Ossory Youth or Kilkenny YouthBank. They can also be contacted by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 056 7761200 or 087 2128787.
