GOLF CLASSIC - Young Irelands GAA will host their annual Golf Classic in Gowran Park Golf Club on the last weekend in July, Friday the 27th July and Saturday 28th July.

This is the 20th year of the annual golf classic since it began back in 1993.

Teams of 4 required which costs a total of €140, while tee box costs €40.

BUSY TIMES AHEAD FOR LOCAL ATHLETES - The Track and Field season is in top gear with several races for track and field Athletes at at Juveniles, Seniors and indeed veterans level.

This coming Friday evening the 8th of June, the final stage of the Track and Field Championships goes ahead commencing at 6.45pm.

Since getting underway on the Sunday of the May Bank Holiday, the County championships have been a fantastic success.

Gowran Athletic Club have enjoyed brilliant success, and they will be hoping to finish the counties in style this coming weekend.

Amongst the events this Friday night are the 200 metres in the Junior and Senior men and women, walks for both men and women in Junior and Senior , 100 metres for both men and women in Junior and Senior, 400 metres in Junior and Senior, along with the spring relays, while there are field events in the shot, discus, javelin, as well as the triple jump, long jump and high jump.

In a busy period for the club, the first round of the National League commences on Sunday coming along with the St. Senans 4 mile, along with Leinster events for under-9 to under-12s up in Tullamore.

Last week, a number of club members compete in the Leinster Championships up in Tullamore.

PARISH MEMBERS TRAVELLING TO EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS - Next Tuesday, the 12th of June, members from the parish will travel with members of neighbouring parishes up to Dublin as part of International Eucharistic Congress week.

A long day of prayers and activities is ahead, with the bus leaving Gowran at around 7.45am.

KNOCK PILGRIMAGE - The Annual pilgrimage to Knock that began back in 1993 will take place on Wednesday July 11th.

Anyone who is interested in travelling can contact Fr. Pat Dalton on 086 8283478.

The cost is usually around €40 which includes an evening meal on the way home in the Tullamore Court Hotel.

CLEERES GET READY FOR EUROS - Excitement is mounting ahead of the start of the European Championships, with Ireland getting their campaign underway this coming Sunday evening against Croatia.

Cleere’s Pub have certainly got in the mood for the championship, as they have decorated the pub full of green to get into the spirit of the occasion.

It’s very refreshing to see the outer area decorated full of Irish banners supporting the boys in green, as the country will be glued to their fortunes in Poland and Ukraine.
