BROW RANGERS - AC Brow Rangers athletes won 9 medals on day 3 of the county championships in scanlon park.

In the boys u12 shot putt Conor B. Kelly was 1st, while in the u14 shot putt patrick darcy was 1st and matthew cullen was 2nd. Matthew also came 3rd in the triple jump.

Adam Kelly was 3rd in the boys u15 shot putt. John Joe Kelly was 1st in the boys u16 shot putt, 1st in the u16 triple jump and 2nd in the u16 80m hurdles.

Aoife Coady was 2nd in the girls u17 discus. Also competing were Matthew Shortall, Oisin Kelly and Ciaran Coady.

In the south Leinster schools athletics, Patrick Darcy was 3rd in the minor boys shot putt and John Joe Kelly was 1st in the boys u16 shot putt and 3rd in the discus.

In the Leinster schools c’ships John Joe Kelly was 1st in the boys u16 shot putt. Both of them were representing Castlecomer Community School.

Johnswell Fun Run - Sunday the 17th June starting at 1 pm. 5 km funrun and 10 km chipped road races with prizes in both for top 3 men/women/children.Registration from 11 am. Entry fee: adults 15 - children 5 - families 25 euro. Lots of activities during and after the race for kids at the local school. Drinks and sandwiches will be provided after the race. DEEN CELTIC AFC ACADEMY 2012 - The highly successful Deen Celtic AFC Academy 2012 commences on Monday July 9th to Friday 13th July. It is now in its third year. Final Registration takes place at Deen Celtic Clubhouse on Saturday 9th June from 3 to 4pm. Registration forms already completed can be returned to Schoolboy Managers or any member of Deen Celtic Committee

The Cost of the Academy is 60 Euro. A Kit is supplied with camp includes following clubwear, a Windbreaker, Tee-Shirt, Socks & Gym Bag.

This camp is not for members only. It is run to introduce children to the basics skills of soccer. Should an individual wish to sign for the club thereafter, the player has some of the Kit required for Deen Celtic included to help reduce costs to families in the difficult times.

Childcare - Kilkenny County Childcare Committee are holding a Free Parents Seminar for parents of children aged from Birth to 6 years on 11th June 2012 in Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel from 7pm-9.30pm. The seminar will be facilitated by Dr. Mary Roche, Education Consultant and will explore how reading books aloud can support young children’s early language development.
