KARATE - Karate Club meet every Tuesday 4.00pm to 5.00pm in Danesfort Community Centre for boys and girls 4 to 12 year olds. . There will be a strong focus on physical fitness, with plenty of fun and games incorporated into the classes. Karate has many proven benefits for kids both physical and mentally. The Physical benefits include better movement and control, improved flexibility, increased fitness and the ability to protect oneself. GOING STRONG - Going Strong Club takes place on Wednesdays at 11.00am in Danesfort Community Centre. The Club is a social gathering of friends and neighbours with a strong emphasis on fun, laughter, positivity and creativity. The members share views, experiences, ideas and skills. WANTED - If you have any of the following items and no longer need them The Going Strong Club would very much appreciate your donation: Wools of any colour, knitting needles and crochet needles of all sizes, materials such as lining, ends of rolls or cuttings. These can be left into the crèche or community centre from Monday to Friday

YOGA - Yoga classes take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays in Danesfort Community Centre at 10.00am. Regular yoga increases your overall flexibility. It improves muscle tone, breathing and body posture awareness. Yoga is for everyone. If you have never practiced yoga before, and would like to try it, please drop in. HIP HOP DANCING - Hip Hop dance tuition for all national school children in Danesfort Community Centre on Wednesdays 4.00pm to 5.00pm. PARENT GUARDIAN TODDLER Parent-Guardian Baby and Toddler Group in conjunction with Kilkenny County Childcare Committee’s present 2012 Parent’s Seminar “ Snuggle Up For Reading “, the importance of reading aloud with young children, on Monday 11th June 2012 at The Ormonde Hotel, Kilkenny from 7 to 9.30 p.m . This seminar is free of charge, however booking is essential. DRIVING TRIALS - Cuffesgrange driving trials were held on the June bank holiday weekend on the land of Liam and Breda Dunne, Ballymack, Cuffesgrange. Despite the damp weather there was a great turnout of competors from all corners of Ireland, including four from Northern Ireland. Amongst the competitors were five teams of four horses. Local girl Amy Manugue won the open pony class, driving her pony, Coco, with her brother Padraig on the back step.

LOTTO - Danesfort GAA & Parish Development Lotto Results Week 35. Held in the Grange Inn, Numbers Drawn; 23 - 35 – 29. There was no winner. Five Consolation Prizes of €30 - Bridget Tierney, Grove - Fiona Keogh, Callan - Aoibhe Molloy, Croan - Bridget Knox, Pigeon Park - Mick Kelly, Rathclogh. Two Promoters Prizes of €20 - Martin Tynan, Martin Mullally. Next Draw - Delaney’s Kells Monday June 4th. Then Sheridan’s Ennisnag Monday June 11th.

FUN RUN - Churchill N.S. FunRun / Race will be held on Sunday June 10. Ann Neary of cookery fame, will start and compete the 5 K run,Start of race is 12.20. Registration is on the day starting at 11am, pre-registration is starting next Tuesday 28th May 28 at 6.30pm in Danesfort running track and will continue every Tuesday and Friday at 6.30 until the event.Entry fees are €15 pp, €10 pp for groups (5 people and over), €25 per family and €10 per student. There will be refreshments during and after and lots of family fun.

CYCLE - A large group of local brave hearts took part in the annual Chernobyl Cork to Kilkenny Cycle at the weekend. The group set out from Cork on a wet and dreary Saturday morning on their way to Dungarvan, where they had an overnight stay, and a chance to rest their weary muscles, in Lalors Hotel. On Sunday morning with no change in the weather, they set off for Kilkenny, their destination, St. Patrick’s, Kells Road. They then did a combined lap of honour around Kilkenny city, eventually reaching the finish line outside the Ormonde Hotel. Danesfort / Cuffesgrange brave souls who participated included – Shane Bradley, Susan Fitspatrick, Vinne Walsh, John Scott, Sheila Marnell, Declan Cooke, Declan Hanrahan.

CANCER FUND RAISER - Danesfort ICA are having an Open Night on Tuesday June 5 in the Danesfort Community Centre at 8 pm. There will be an Art and Craft Exhibition and Rose Harris from Homefocus will give a Craft Demonstration. Entry €5 including refreshments and all monies raised will go to the National Breast Cancer Research Institute in Galway.  We would like to welcome all our neighbours and friends to support this worthy cause and enjoy a really good night out.

BEREAVED - A meeting for people bereaved by suicide which will be held by Kilkenny Bereavement Support, in Villa Maria, Freshford Road, Kilkenny next Thursday at 8.00pm.
