Tullaroan: Under 16 team were firmly in control

hurling-Tullaroan U16s hurling team took on St Fiachre’s on Saturday evening in Clara in the Quater Final of the Championship. St Fiachre were first to register scores on the board when they scored two points for frees in the 2nd and 7th minute. In the 10th minute Shane Walsh sent a blistering ground ball to the back of the net to put Tullaroan one point up. St Fiachres responded with a further point from a placed ball. But once again Shane Walsh responded with another shot into the goal. St Fiachre’s tacked on 2 further points one from play and the other from a free. At the end of the first quarter Tullaroan led by 2-0 to 0-5. Tullaroan drove on in the second quarter and added a further 6 points to St Fiachre’s one. Half time score Tullaroan 2-6 to 0-6. Tullaroan continued to dominate the second half with the half back line putting a in commanding performance. With 7 unanswered points and a goal from sub John Dooley, Tullaroan were firmly in control. St Fiachres managed to get a last minute goal but that was their only score of the second half. Final score Tullaroan 3-13 St Fiachre’s 1-6. Tullaroan will now take on St Lachtains in the semi final, due to be played the end of August.

The Tullaroan senior hurling team played O’Loughlin’s on Saturday evening last in opening of the O’Loughlin’s new hurling pitch and were unlucky to go under in the closing stages of the match by one goal. The club would like to congratulate O’Loughlin’s on the development of their new playing pitch and also to thank them for their hospitality on the night.

The Junior hurling team will play Erin’s Own in the first round of the junior championship at St. Lactain’s sports grounds on Thursday 16th August.

Cois Nore Cancer Support Services-A coffee morning will be held on Thursday 16th August at the Centre in Walkin Street, Kilkenny commencing at 11 am and finishing at noon. There will be Chamber Music played and a cake sale.

Tom Hogan Cup-The Tullaroan hurling club will hold the Tom Hogan Memorial Tournament on Friday17th August at 7pm in the Tullaroan sports grounds where Graig/Ballycallan will play Dicksboro. The hurlinglub would like to thank local publican’s John and Joan Connolly for their sponsorship of the trophies for this annual tournament. All support would be very much appreciated.

Whist Drive-A whist drive will be held in the Tullaroan community centre on Friday 17th August commencing at 9pm.

Golf Society-Tullaroan golf society held their August outing in Kilkenny golf club on Saturday last. Winners lst. Dick Walshe (The Village), 2nd Anslem Molloy, 3rd Ger Cody, front nine Eddie Carter, back nine Peter Holland, Dick Walshe also had longest drive. John and Joan Connolly sponsored the longest drive and nearest the pin. The presentation was made in Connolly’s Lounge by Eamon Campion captain of the society.

S.O.S.Kilkenny-The group will hold a Church gate collection at the Church of The Assumption on 18th and 19th August.

Camogie-Tullaroan intermediate camogie team will play St. Anne’s, Johnstown in the league semi final on Friday 17th August. Best of luck to all involved.

Pattern Mass-The Pattern Mass will be celebrated at the Tullaroan Cemetery on Wednesday 15th August at 7pm (weather permitting) .
