WEDDING CHALLENGE - A young Callan couple are in with of a big chance of winning a €20,000 wedding prize. Anita Duffy and Noel Power who live at Bolton Woods are one of five couples from the South East Region who have been picked as part of a Beat FM promotion. Last weekend they were chosen after completing a number of tasks as well as composing and announcing their marriage vows. They have now been set a task of raising as much money for their chosen charity for the remainder of this week. Anita who’s family own ‘Scruffy Duffys’ Bar on Mill Street has set herself some serious and daring tasks. Anita admits to having a serious fear of vermin, snakes and especially spiders, but there is a big prize at stake so if she raises €1,000 by Thursday (tomorrow) she has agreed to travel to the retile village in Gowran and under the supervision of Callan native James Hennessy she has agreed to sit in a tank with spiders, snakes and vermin. Well as she said its in a good cause as their chosen charity is Crumlin’s Children’s Hospital who need to raise €8 million for a new unit. Both have also come up with another novel idea to raise money. On Saturday afternoon beginning at 3pm a special ‘Camp’ football tournament will take place at the rear of Scruffy Duffy’s. So all you lads out there who have that slight feminine side to you, why not rob the wife’s, grannies or girlfriends cloths and kit yourself out for a day of fun which will round off with a Barbeque. So go dig deep for a good cause and in turn raise funds for Crumlin.
