COMMUNITY PLAYGROUND DISCO - Ballyragget Community Playground committee are holding their annual Halloween kids disco on Sunday the 28th of October. There will be a Fancy dress on the day. Thanks to Bridget O Shea who’ll be running her fabulous cake sale and DJ Nolan on the decks. It all Starts at 3oclock and finishes at 5 in CYMS Hall Ballyragget. We are looking forward to seeing all our spooky little friends on the day!
FLORAL DEMOSTRATION - A floral demonstration hosted by Ballyragget ICA in aid of Suicide or Survive (SOS) will be held in the Canon Malone Hall, Ballyragget on Friday 2nd November at 8pm, Admission is only €5 and there will be a raffle on the night – please come along and lend your support to this worthy cause. It is hoped that funds raised from this event will be used to assist in running Wellness Workshops in Kilkenny in the future.
DR. DAVID COLEMAN AT HEYWOOD - As part of the Adult Education Programme Heywood Community School will host Dr. David Coleman, psychologist and presenter of “Teens in the Wild” on R.T.E. for a talk followed by a workshop in the School sports hall on the 6th December. Tickets are €10 and are now available from the school main office.

TEAM NEWS - St. Patricks Ballyragget Hurling News: The Bally boys were in action on Saturday last in Bennetsbridge against Mooncoin aiming to earn an Intermediate semi final place. The Bally boys got off to a great start with Kevin Kelly scoring a goal in the opening moments; the bally boys kept the lead throughout the match and went in at half time on a score line of 1-8 to 0-2. The second half was similar with the Ballyragget men hungry throughout the match and all in tip top form, the match ending on a score line of 1-17 to 1-5. It has been a great 13 months and the players having given everything to the club see them earn a place in a intermediate semi final on their first year at the grade. Thanks a million to the players and team management for their hard work. The Bally boys go forth again. Due to replays etc the next match date is unavailable at present as is the opponent.
BORD NA nOG - We held our Annual street league final last Friday night. This year, like previous years, was a great success. Congratulations to the winning team captained by Ned Glennon and managed by Ollie Holohan. All seven teams were excellent on the night. A special thanks to our very own Kilkenny player, Joe Brennan, who presented all the players with their medals. Thanks also to our sponsors for the event: John & Catherine Carroll and Rita Purcell and family. As always the contribution by the parents is un-endless and much appreciated throughout the year.

HAVE YOU TIME TO SPARE - S.O.S. is a Voluntary Organisation in Kilkenny for adults with a mild-moderate intellectual disability, providing day services, respite and residential care. We are looking for families or individuals (hosts) to provide short breaks (day/overnight/weekend) in their home for adults from our services. Each host is matched with one person from S.O.S. and an expense allowance is paid for each break provided. We are also looking for volunteers to support us in providing extra social and recreational activities for people attending S.O.S. in the evening time or weekends. BALLYOUSKILL- Apologies to the community of Ballyouskill for the inconvenience caused by having the church closed, Another area of plaster has fallen from the ceiling and we are advised that it is too dangerous to have a congregation there, Sincere thanks to the hall committee for the use of the Community Hall for Mass – thanks to all for their patience and co-operation. Tenders are been sought to have the ceiling re-plastered, a decision will be made and work will commence as soon as possible.
