KILMACOW SOCCER CLUB-UNDER 13, Villa 0 Kilmacow 0 .This was a great match and a great point for our lads. Scoreless draws are fairly rare in schoolboys football but this was an exciting match that could have had goals. Both defences were on top and when the goalkeepers were called on they stood up to the test. Dylan made a fantastic save early in the second half. We had some chances but it remained scoreless. A point away from home is welcome at any time. it was a great team performance all round with the players putting in a tremendous effort.

UNDER 11. Ferrybank 2 Kilmacow 1
Our under 11s suffered defeat away to neighbours Ferrybank. They fought very well and were a bit unfortunate to come away with nothing. They were the better side for most of the first half but had nothing to show for their efforts. Unfortunately they lad went 2-0 down and looked in real trouble. Kieran Dowling played a blinder in goal as the lads tried to get back int the match. Jack Murphy got a goal back with a great header but they couldn’t get that vital equaliser however despite the good work of Tom Butler, Conor Walsh and Fionn Blanche.
KILMACOW: Kieran Dowling, Jack Murphy, Jamie Walker, Billy Phelan, Ronán Leech, Conor Walsh, Anthony Dunphy, Stephen Moore, Cian Vereker, Fergal Suffin, Tom Butler, Fionn Blanche.
County Council Works-Kilkenny County Council will this week commence works in the Upper Street, Kilmacow on a section of the road where the edge is rough and poses a difficulty for people who wish to get safely onto the footpath. The works will include screeding of the roadway and the installation of a special drainage kerb which should facilitate a safer step onto the footpath.
The section on which the works are to be carried out is from the local grocery shop down to below the doctor’s surgery. A traffic management system and some parking restrictions will be required during the works. The works will take some time to complete due to the accuracy required and the need to be mindful of underground services.
