It was mixed fortunes for the other Fort teams playing at the weekend. The Under-13’s moved further clear in the league with a mighty 6-0 win at home to second place Clover Utd. The Under -19’s were agonisingly close to reaching the youths shield final but just lost out 3-2 after extra time to Freebooters in the semi final on Saturday. Fort started brightly and went 1-0 up when Emmet Nugent converted from the penalty spot. The lead only lasted 2 minutes however, as booters equalised from a header. The rest of the game was end to end with the locals more than matching their illustrious rivals. Having ended 1-1, the game entered extra time. Again Fort started brightly and took the lead when Emmet fired to the net from a free kick, after fine play down the right between Dion Fitzpatrick and Evans Wallace. Fort held that lead until 2 minutes from time when a fortuitous long range goal brought booters level. With penalties looming, the locals were sucker punched when the city boys scored with the last kick of extra time. This was a heartbreaking end to a game that fort played really well in, and it must be said lady luck deserted them at the death. Team: John Rice, Donagh Carney, James Tynan, Seamus McGrath, Patrick Tynan, Dion Fitzpatrick, Evans Wallace, James Lenehan, Colm Phelan, Emmet Nugent, Daragh Hennessey.Subs: Peter Butler, Ger Dunne, Lee Dunne, Robbie Malone.

Fort juniors remain second from bottom in the Premier division following a 2-0 defeat by Freebooters in the Fair Green.
