Conahy: Great win for under 16 footballers

FOOTBALL - The under-16 footballers brought the curtain down on 2012 in dramatic style as they edged out Emeralds in a thrilling Roinn C county final in Jenkinstown on Saturday afternoon last. The Urlingford men were the better side in the opening exchanges, but in a frantic final quarter, Conahy produced the key scores when it mattered most. Two late goals saw Conahy snatch the lead, which they managed to hold until the final whistle, despite some dramatic moments in front of their goal in the last piece of action. This left the final score 4-4 to 1-11 in Conahy’s favour. Emeralds were desperately unlucky, but that mattered little to Conahy, as their team captain Joe Mullan received the trophy from Kilkenny Bórd na n-Óg chairman Willie Dempsey.
