Glenmore - Eddie Roche dies suddenly

ICE CREAM FUNDAY - Many thanks to all who supported the Ice Cream Fun Day which was held in aid of Down Syndrome Ireland at the 3rd round of the Intermediate hurling match between Glenmore and Mullinavat last Sunday afternoon in the Mooncoin GAA grounds. People were very generous and the support given is much appreciated. Thanks to the Mooncoin GAA club for faciliating the fundraiser and for the use of their facilities, also thanks to the helpers on the day for their help and to the organisers, Breda Roche of Rathinure and Brid Fitzpatrick of Ballinaraha, Mullinavat for co-ordinating and bringing the fundraiser together and thanks to HB Ireland for providing the ice cream.

SYMPATHY - On the sudden passing of Eddie Roche of Haggard, sympathy is extended to his wife Maureen and sons Ely and Marty at this time. Sympathy aslo to his brothers sisters, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, grand nieces and grand nephews, extended family members, neighbours and friends. Eddie was laid to rest following his requiem mass in the church of St. James, Glenmore and may his gentle soul rest in peace.

CEMETRY MASSES - The annual outdoor cemetery masses in the parish of Glenmore will be taking place in Kilcolm on Wednesday 29th May; at Ballyveria Grotto on Wednesday June 5th; in Kilmackevogue on Friday June 7th ; in Ballygurrim on Tuesday 11th June ; in Kilbride on Wednesday 12th June and in Glenmore cemetry on Friday 26th July with all masses set for 8pm.

KNOCK - An overnight stay is being planned for a trip to Knock Shrine for Saturday/Sunday July 21st. If you are interested in travelling please contact May Cashin, the cost is €80 and names and deposit of €40 is currently being taken

ICA- The Glenmore guild of the ICA held their most recent meeting on May 14th in Glenmore hall with tweleve members in attendance. Jerry Halley and Liz Dowling from M.M. Halley and Sons Solicitors, Waterford gave a very informative talk on making a will and it was of great interest to all members. A vote of sympathy was passed to the Roche family of Haggard on the death of Eddie and to the Walsh family of Busherstown on the recent passing of Charlie Linegar. The monthly competition winners were Mary Lynch, Anne Cottrell and Kathleen Cody and the raffle prize winners were Mary Aylward and Breda Griffin. The final arrangements have been set for the summer outing which is to Macroom and the next meeting was fixed for June 11th.

NEW BABY - Congratulations to Enda and Alice Kehoe( nee O’ Doherty of Kilbride) on the birth of their first child, a girl named Michaela.

S.K.H.S. - The South Kilkenny Historical Society held their summer outing last Saturday when they visited the Titanic Experience in Cobh and they also travelled over to Spike Island. Forty nine people from across the local parishes greatly enjoyed the day trip and the evening meal in Dungravan. Well done to all involved with the organising of the trip. This local historical society offers very interesting talks and presentations since its formation and this is much appreciated and they have a full programme of events and talks lined up for the autumn season, more news and updates nearer the time.
