NVAC-Less than two weeks to go! Hi, Brian Keane here, I wanted to let you all know that I am competing in a Double Olympic Triathlon which is a Middle Distance or Half Ironman Event. The event is called Tri-Athy and it will take place on June 1st 2013. It consists of a 3km river swim followed by an 80km cycle and then a 20km run to finish off! I am in training at the moment and increasing my mileage in each discipline every week. Swimming training is mostly in a pool, and hopefully as the temperatures rise, in the river in Graiguenamanagh. Cycling training is around the Kilkenny/Inistioge area and the running is mostly in Inistioge, where I have plenty of scope for challenging runs…

I am competing in this event to help raise funds for the Nore Valley Athletics Club, of which I am a member.

It is a fantastic club based in Inistioge. There are all levels of athlete, kids, adults, fit4life and walkers. With over 100 members of all ages, shapes and sizes. We are trying to raise money for a long jump pit, a high jump mattress and sports equipment for the club. All contributions are very much appreciated no matter how small. If you hit on the link below it will take you to Paypal where you can donate via a secure website.

DAWN CHORUS-In Caelo chamber choir from Inistioge will perform a “dawn chorus” on the green, down by the river in Inistioge at 7am this Sunday 26th May. It is hoped that as many people as possible will turn out to enjoy the performance. It was a great event last year and it is hoped that this year will be even better.

GET ON YOUR BIKE-Are you interested in riding your bike to Croke park on the Saturday before the all Ireland? It is a chance to get fit, have fun and raise a little money. Please contact Fr. Scriven for further details. It is not a race!
